Subject: Has anything realy changed?

GeorgeD ( ) posted Mon, 25 September 2000 at 2:15 AM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 3:49 PM

Well let me extend the subject to the full title - "Has anything realy changed that effects you personaly?" The answer is obvious...no. What has changed? Hmmm well the forums are almost fully re-staffed with familar names that we all know, JeffH, FastTrax, ClintH, Spike, bloodsong and myself. There are a few new names in the mix but that's noting new...moderators come and go like part timers at McDonalds. What has changed? Members leaving. Well sort of. It seems everytime a member "leaves" here another "new" member signs up. The phrase "Nothing lost is nothing gained" comes to mind. What has changed? "Delete" keys all over the world need repairing now. Well this one I hate to say contridicts my "Has anything realy changed that effects you personaly?" statement. So I guess I need to retract that. For those who still remain here you may notice a few downloads you wanted to grab not here anymore. Well, due to the large "I'm leaving" movement here this does effect you personally. I'm sorry to say that this rebelion of sorts is not the best thing to come down the road...but it's happened before and we will recover as a community. A "community" ...hmm that seems to be one of my favorite words over the past year or so. I don't usually spend hours replying to hate/complaint threads. I read them or just pass them buy. Have I noticed a "change" in here? Well not realy. There's still the outragious BS matches in the Complaint Forum, the long winded questions in the Poser Forum, the Newbie question asked 25 times in a row by 25 different people...etc, etc. So is this still a viable "community" after all of the recent events? Yes. I can't speak for the other moderators here but I'm sure they will agree, we are here to help this community as we always have in the past. Do we as moderators get "heated" from some of the threads here...sure do. Do we get over it...sure do. Is there a point to this whole message I just posted? Not realy...more of a noted observation of our "community" GeorgeD "Construct not Distruct"

I was upset by the silence from this team in the beginning, but I saw, as time went by, that what could we expect? It is the silence of the innocent who is confronted with a witch trial. Why dignify our behaviour with a response? Why indeed. Why did I react to Legume's post at 'otica? I, like many of my peers here, am a fool. I am not afraid to admit that, but I do like to think I snapped out of it. The idea of keeping things democratic around here is great...start making admins and moderators accountable. I don't know how that tangent is going, but if it doesn't work, that's fine...you tried. Finally, anonymous commenting in the galleries. (Is it working yet?) I believe we will see real critiqueing now. I am glad for that. No more auto-tens. It's neat to change the colors, if not trivial. I've got a halloween theme here :) We are a community, and the survivors of the war that remain here look forward to continued great service and survival of Renderosity. I hope that whatever edgenet's reason is for giving us a home, I hope it continues to succeed in your endeavors. -Darth_Logice

Good message George. Thanks. Darth, currently the ratings are anonymous, but not the comments. I hope to next work on allowing either a rating or a comment or both. I'm not too sure about completely anonymous comments. But if that's what the community wants, that's what I'll do. Any interested parties, please let me hear from you in the Community Ideas forum. You have lost some very good artists...

Hear, Hear, Radical! Good words and so very true. We are witnessing evolution first hand. This is how that new forums for us overly-sensitive totally tempermental but hopelessly in love pinch of paranoia with a penchant for passionate psychodrama wonderful bad determined drunk stoned emotional sleep-deprAved personality-spawning hard driven hard drive artists are born. As you alluded, the Artists do come and go, but the Art remains. And our Art is just a little better than it was before, and we have new resources to share. This is how grows and expands the very Art we love! And this is how we feel its growing pains. Anyone who hasn't yet, ought to check out Jack's new place. And buzz over by Big-i forum and see what's cookin' there. Halloween's around the corner and the wind is hinting Fall... Politely play and there will be a purse of treats for all. from the Faeries

And I will be thankful when the important utility Poser Explorer comes back here. It is not erotic, so why did it move to Renderotica??, and people must risk their work bosses' wrath accessing Renderotica in work time to download the latest version of Poser Explorer.
