Subject: Is it hard to make props for poser4?

I want to make a broom, but know NOTHING about making things for poser... Is there anywhere that tells? also is there a place that can tell me how to make my own pose sets? Thank you.

Poser itself is not a modeling program- but a broom is relitivly simple- a little creative use of primatives might do it :) when you've made the broom to your likes- export as wavefront obj the reimport it- it will be all welded together as one item :) As far as poses go- yup- pose your character then in the Pose libary click the (+) sign and it will be saved to the libary.

Do a search in this forum for Dr Geep. Follow all the good doctor's lessons, and you will be making brooms and poses like a master in no time. PS There are about 40 lessons covering almost everything you will ever need to know about Poser.

If you click on the Poser banner at the top of this page, the one that says "Poser Forum", it will take you to the backroom. There you will find a button that says tutorials. Happy studying!!

Attached Link: http://www.wings3d.com/

Wings3d is a free object making program that can be used for making props and is available at the link.

dang xantor, that's my line!..;) Poser can import .3ds, and .obj formats, just gotta get a handle on the scaling and weld identical vertices..I've done a couple, no great shakes, but a good learning experience..;)

Something like a broom is easy to make with Poser's primitives if you're not TOO picky... Here's an example. 2 cones, a torus, a cylinger ande a somewhat elongated ball, textured in Poser 5's material Room.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

You can make the basic props more flexible by un-hiding their Taper controls. This is most useful with the Y-taper on the Box, Cylinder, and Ball. Make a backup copy of the PP2 files, then locate the 'hidden 1' line under each of the taper parameters, and change 'hidden 1' to 'hidden 0'. --------- Original: taperY taper Y { name taper Y initValue 0 hidden 1 --------- Becomes: taperY taper Y { name taper Y initValue 0 hidden 0 --------- With the added Taper Y control on the Cylinder, you can make a broom like this.

Here is a 9mm I made entirely in Poser using the primatives, grouping tool, and magnets. Also used some of the primatives from maclean's prop-o-rama set 1,2,3, in free stuff at 3Dcommune - mostly for internal parts not seen. I have it to where it can be field stripped. But then I tend to go overboard with things. LOL
