Some people have recommended getting two video cards. You might have an AGP and a PCI video card. My ATI Radeon 7000 says it will work ok with a two-monitor setup. But I imagine another video card would be required, since the card doesn't have a second monitor connection.

My NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 allowed me to hook up a 2nd monitor just this week, one monitor is on the digital out, and the other is on the analog. So I'm finally doing the duel monitor thing myself. Love it, won't go back to one monitor ever again. Doug

I came, I rendered, I'm still broke.

Marque, thanks for your warning but could you be specific about the particular setup, like Card, Monitor 1 & Monitor 2? Rendy

OK, color me confused. I'm looking at a GeForce FX 5200. There are two connections. One looks different than the standard VGA connection. Will a standard plug still fit? Oh, and will it work if I have a 19" monitor at 1152X864 and my 15" monitor at 800x600?

well the 2nd connector in that mode is for LCD's monitors.. but Geforces normally come with an adaptor to use 2 standard CRT displays.. Using 2 17" CRT's here on my Geforce Ti4800 and loving it :) (has the same plug setup as the above pic - using the supplied DVI to VGA adaptor)

I've use dual monitors for many years now. I've done it with two card set ups and with a single card with multiple outputs. Right now I'm running a 64MB Radeon 9000 series card with a couple of 19" monitors set at 1280 X 1024 & 32bit color depth. I find that the single card approach works better. If you are using an open GL application and move it from one monitor to another it doesn't stop displaying like it did with my old 2 card setups. If you do use two cards you normally want to set the AGP card as the primary display. This is usually a bios setting. This really only makes much difference if you are gaming and want the best card for the game display . . . Also, I prefer to set both monitors to the same resolutions and color depth. If your two monitors or cards are substantially different you can set them differently. Also, I'm running Ultramon - it adds some nice features that are particularly handy if you are in a two card setup. Most of the single card/dual display cards have some similar utilities bundled . . .

Thanks... Right now im using Geforce4MX series and plan to upgrade or buy PCI ones I read from vue forum and here , Geforce chip have problem with VUE open GL , isn`t true ? Or its solved by newest patch and nvidia driver update ?

Yep "Bobbie" I"m using both the blue VGA (Analog) and the white Digital outs... with two different LCD monitors... a 20" and 17". The 20" Dell can use a digital or vga cable, and also SVideo and RCA Video. Wish I could afford two 20" monitors, but not yet. The monitors are the Dell 17" E171FPb Flat Panel Display and Dell 20" 2100FP UltraSharp LCD Doug

OK it appears the key to this arrangement is LCD monitors. I don't have them at this time.

A graphics card with two outputs works fine with two CRTs, provided the second output (usually digital) has a digital/analog connector. If you look at the white connector in the image above, you'll see 24 holes arranged in 3 rows, and on the right side 4 holes and a slit. This connector is both digital and analog. With the supplied converter plug you can attach a second CRT.
Most modern display adapters have connectors like that. If the 4 holes around the slit are missing, it's a digital-only connector!
Hope this helps, Steven.

Oh, so it should come with a converter plug, and I could use my CRT Monitors? One question remains unanswered: Can I use my 15" monitor along with my 19"? My 19" is capable of 1152x864, while my 15" is only capable of 800x600.
