There was an error with the intial content installers, they've been corrected, so try redownloading them and installing the content again. (They were getting installed with an extra folder that caused D|S not to recognize them properly). The interface code hasn't changed in any way so as to make it any slower than what was present with the Alpha, so that shouldn't be any differen for you, the last I heard. There have been several people make mention of the renders taking longer than that of P4, and that is true. Though, when you combine the more accurate OpenGL preview to the equation, since the preview is so much more accurate than what most of us are used to seeing, you shouldn't have to render quite as much. One of the biggest issues that affects performance is the video card, so the better the video card you have, the faster the interface should run. Thanks, please be patient, remember, this is only the first beta release, it's not finished yet. :) Steve

Just a note to say thanks Steve. Pass that on to all involved in the project. I know you guys have taken a lot of pestering for probably the last 12 months with this project. But be it known, that through it all, all of your efforts, long nights, and stretched patience, your group of talented programers and support staff are very much appreciated here!!

Warmest Regards,

Dallas

Oh great..now I've got another addiction :)I haven't tried it out as I'm in work and I have vowed never to install a 3D program on my work machine(one good way of getting into trouble) but thanks to the Daz team anyway :)

What kind of specs are needed to run D|S? I have a PIII 450 w/ 512mb of RAM and a 16mb video card (I know, a dinosaur but it runs P4 just fine). Of course more is always better when it comes to computers but what is the minimum recommended?

BazC ( ) posted Fri, 16 April 2004 at 1:16 PM

Thanks! I've just downloaded the Mac version and it's a big improvement on the alpha!

electranaut ( ) posted Fri, 16 April 2004 at 1:34 PM

hasseh - Just a thought, but have you got any kind of download accelerator running? If so, you should disable it before trying to download from DAZ because the multiple connections that they open all count as one download attempt each and they don't work anyway. I know this from my own dumbass experience because I forgot to disable my accelerator (doh!) and now can't get a copy of D|S Beta unless DAZ reinstate my attempts...

maclean ( ) posted Fri, 16 April 2004 at 2:46 PM

If you need more downloads, you should check at the DS forum at DAZ. But from what I know, you can go back to original link and click on it to reset the number of downloads in your account. All accelerators and firewalls must be switched off to download. mac

RHaseltine ( ) posted Fri, 16 April 2004 at 3:39 PM

Firewalls shouldn't be a problem - I run Sygate and the XP native one and downloads work

Netherworks ( ) posted Sat, 17 April 2004 at 7:58 PM

I have a couple of questions... I didn't see a way to fit clothing - Is there a way to conform or copy pose settings from one figure to another? Also, are the dials limited by the figure's joint limits because it seemed that I could only get the limbs to bend to a small degree? Thanks for your time, Joseph

.

RHaseltine ( ) posted Sun, 18 April 2004 at 8:53 AM

There's a Fit dropdown at the bottom of the parameter pane - with the clothing active, select the wearer from the list.

RHaseltine ( ) posted Sun, 18 April 2004 at 8:55 AM

Oops, missed the second question! Yes, limits are on by default, but as with Poser you can double-click the dial name to bring up an options dialogue and change the limits or remove them.

maclean ( ) posted Sun, 18 April 2004 at 10:13 AM

Heh, nice one, richard. I didn't know about that options dialog. Interestingly, one of the most annoying things in poser - the idiotic and erratic morph sensitivity - seems to have been corrected in DS. I noticed you can change morph sensitivity, but it doesn't seem to be necessary. All morphs seem to work at high-speed in DS. Cool. mac

Netherworks ( ) posted Wed, 21 April 2004 at 10:15 PM

Cool. thanks Richard :) Yeah, I agree about the morph sensitivity, mac. Though you can make the desired sensitivity stick by hand-editing the cr2, which is what I usually do.

.

maclean ( ) posted Thu, 22 April 2004 at 3:00 PM

'you can make the desired sensitivity stick by hand-editing the cr2' Well, I've never managed to do it. At least, the edited changes don't have any effect and revert to the old settings after saving. This was discussed at length in the tech forum and no one came up with a solution. If you've found a way to do it, I'm up for it. mac

Netherworks ( ) posted Thu, 22 April 2004 at 11:14 PM

Ok, just to be sure... On sensitivity, we're talking about if you move a dial, setting it jump by 0.02 increments and so forth. When I do full body morphs, after saving within Poser, I open the file up in Cr2 Builder and set those sensitivities there. At a certain point, I no longer save within Poser - instead using a treeview capable text editor. Yup, saving from Poser will mess it up - same thing with locking dial settings and initial settings.
