Subject: Adding water ripples or rings

Hello :D Is there a tutorial out there that talks about how to effectively add water rings into a picture? I've had a couple of failed attempts using displace and bevel and emboss. I just want to put rings around the figure standing in it :D Thanks!

Hi Mist, welcome to the forum, can't think of any tut's right off the top of my head, but a good way to try and pull it off is to do it by hand on a seperate layer in Photoshop (works best if you have a tablet [like WACOM] to draw with...) and build up from there...

if i understand you correctly, you want the effect of the water being displace by the contact with the figure. Would it be the same principle of doing "folds" in fabric on a form?? The difference being the surface "plane" is more horizontal...

sorry not much (if any) help...

:)

redfield has a free(and excellent) plugin called water ripples. You can do it in Photoshop, but it would take a long time to do(and write). here's the link 4 redfield http://www.redfieldplugins.com/filterWaterRipples.htm

You can always play around with Filter > Distort > Zigzag. It has a pond ripple style. With a few layers and perspective filter you may get what you are looking for.
