Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 26 1:43 pm)
Thank you for your quick reply. I must be stupid but I don't see any arrow ;o( It says to double-click in the library on the bikini top and when I do that, here are the questions I have to reply to: "The current figure contains customized geometry. Would you like to apply these to the new figure type? 1. Keep modified geometries 2. Keep props attached to figure 3. Keep deformers attached to figure" Whether I check or leave unchecked the three boxes, when I click OK, there is another question I have to reply to: "Would you like to keep this figure's proportions through the figure change? (box) Keep current proportions" Again, whatever my answer, the bikini top becomes figure1 and the body (character) is gone. Sorry to be so slow to understand. France

Hi,
Don't panic, it's not your fault - the manual is lying!
Don't double click the picture of the bikini, click once to select it - then click the double-tick/check symbol at the bottom.
If you hold your pointer over the buttons - one shows 'change figure', the one you need shows 'create new figure'.
Hope that helps,
Craig
the double checks or "ticks" are at the bottom of the library pull out panel which on my version is on the left; follow the series of library images to the bottom of the list...there are symbols you want the second one over not the first one... Hey while you are at it don't forget to go to the top menu and under figure>Inverse K..uncheck the legs or they will get stuck to the floor...that one took me a little over a week to figure out... I agree keep plugging along you will be hooked before you know it...
Thank you all for your quick replies! I finally found the double arrows at the bottom (I was looking on the image of the bikini top and on the workspace!). Now I will try that Inverse K? when I have time to play with Poser again and in the meanwhile, I have another question: I followed the tutorial in the reference manual and inserted a ball. They said to upturn the hand of the model (but didn't say HOW!!!) and I think I succeeded doing that. Then I added the ball and colored it but I can't find a way to put it under the hand, it stays on top of the hand so it doesn't look natural at all. How can I change the order of the objects? Thanks again and this forum seems very good! France

In general, use the dials (on the parameter palette) to move things around and not the mouse. Using the mouse is a sure way to turn people into pretzels L To make it appear under the hand you must move (translate) it to the correct position, if it's over the hand and you want it under, use the Y-trans to lower it. Also be sure it is actually aligned with the hand, a quick look thru the Top camera will tell you if it's at the proper position (click the workspace somewhere to make it active, then click ctrl-T to select top camera, when that's done, use Ctrl-M to get back to the main camera). Don't be afraid to ask more questions. The manual is not exactely well-written and is faulty at some places (like the double click thing)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.
Here's another surefire hint: If anything asks you if you want to change the current figure, click CANCEL. Do not blindly click OK because it's there. Single-click a figure or clothing, then click the single-check button. Double-click a pose or prop or hand or face to apply those to the scene. It would have been nice if the single-click/ double-click was standard.

Hello everyone, I just bought Poser 5 and I am trying to make sense of it. I never worked with 3D before! I am trying to create the "first Poser scene" as described in the Reference Manual and I can't get through the clothing part. It says "Return to the POSE room and open the LIBRARY palette. Select Figures-Clothing-P4Female, and add the Bikini Top... The bikini top appears behind the figure..." Hum... When I add the bikini top, I am asked 4 questions regarding proportions, geometry, etc. and whether I say yes or no to those questions, the bikini top REPLACES the figure and I can't see the woman anymore. Can someone explain what I do wrong please? France
