Subject: Materials problem

Hello all, since I experienced Computerproblems and had to reinstall Bryce 5 and my Vue (several times!) I now experience problems with my Vue materials. Some of them (Glasses and Metals) show only black and all extensions are now Bryce 5 materials. I reinstalled again to no avail. Does someone now how I change them to vue materials back? Dani (who hopes she made herself understandable...)

Hi Dani - Vue and Bryce use the same file extension *.mat for their material files, so it depends on which you've installed first. On my system, Vue mats reads as Bryce mats, but I've never had any problems with it, and you shouldn't either, as long as you keep the two separated (i.e. know which is which). The problem with the "black" materials, I guess, should be found in the location of the bitmap and function source files. Did you by chance move them to a folder/location of another name? Hopem this is helpful - Lars

Thank you Lars, about the file extensions, I just asked because they are named now as Bryce 5 mats..oh well...THAT doesn't seem to be the problem then... For the black materials...I didn't changed the folders and everything is still there...I've get even the names of the materials in the editor. It's only these two categories (glasses and metals) where nothing comes up and no materials get transferred to the object. (I deleted any .prv files but it didn't help) Is there anything else I could try? Thank you!
