Subject: Poser5 SR3 depth map shadows disappeared

I just completed a project a week ago and have been trying some lighting and character tests for my next project when all of a sudden, I can't get Depth Map Shadows period unless I use the P4 renderer instead of FF. Simple primitive scene with 4 lights. Default infinited lights, spotlight, turning on and off shadow on ground plane. I can get raytraced shadows fine, but ALL depth map shadows have disappeared. I have read at length in this Forum, the problem with SR4 and depth map shadows back in March, but I'm getting this problem in SR3. Should I upgrade to SR4 (is SR4.1 depth map shadow fix out now?) Has anyone had this problem before? ~Orodreth

SR 4.1 does fix the shadow map problem. So far, I quite like SR4.1. Makes Poser 5 more stable, and handles memory better. As for your current problem...check for shadow temp files. They sometimes don't delete properly. (The problem is fixed with SR4.1.) Delete them, and see if that helps.

I installed SR4.1 tonight and loaded some new lights and primitives and the Depth Map Shadows have returned. Opened one of my old shadow test files (where the depth map shaodws first disappeared) and rendered it, and the Depth Map Shadows worked! Turns out, when I was doing my update I noticed that I had SR4 already, so this problem WAS the DM shadow issue people were having trouble with. SR4.1 with shadows... opens faster... renders faster... live is good again!
