I vote for "No Postwork" ... but what about crop? MGD

cynlee ( ) posted Thu, 29 April 2004 at 1:55 AM

no postwork is an interesting challenge... but how could you not include minor adjusting for low quality cameras, or cloning out dust for scanned images... then there's cropping, etc... a lot of variables uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... hmmmmmmmmmmmm... prized possessions!... being the snoop i am :]

MGD ( ) posted Thu, 29 April 2004 at 5:08 AM

how could you not include ... Yeah ... but that would be the challenge ... get the best possible shot (several times) and then select the one you want to show. MGD

okay, we can make a challenge with a camera obscura, too.why we need a lens ? why not LOMOGRAPHY.or we make our films self, take a plate of glas buy the chemie and make your own emulsion.it will get great results.is the different of Kodak and Fuji films not postwork, too. should we using all the same film ? !!!!!!!!! #:O) !!!!!!!!!

I would like to suggest the opposite of opposites, "Similar" Things that are similar but different. The idea of making a camera, not practical for all of us. No post work could lead to some scary images. I know that I have a hot pixel in my camera so I have to do at least that postwork so it would leave me out. And Winter Wonderland is difficult for those of us in the northern hemisphere. So I vote for "Similar" Magick Michael

hmmm...i think I'll vote for self-portraiture...there are so many gorgeous people out there...and I'd love to see them (certainly not voting in the hopes of seeing Michelle in her pants again or anything...ahem....)

MGD ( ) posted Sat, 01 May 2004 at 7:28 AM

@raven_nightmares - > self-portraiture I am not voting for/against Self Portraits ... but I did learn something about that evil art last month. If you have time, you might look at these 2 threads ... "Self Portraits ... some observations" http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12379&Form.ShowMessage=1749658 "A Secret Revealed Concerning Comfort" http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12379&Form.ShowMessage=1756727 MGD

@MGD Surely you're joking? I would kill (quite literally) for legs such as yours. Of course, the striping on the hose does slim, but even so, I am still deeply impressed. And looking at the photos, I do begin to deeply miss my long hair *sigh. There is one thing that you forget, however...I simply voted for the subject...I didn't say that I would enter ;) My attitude to my face is quite well summed up on my profile - the less of it shown the better.

@raven_nightmares - Thanks for your response. I agree with you about the results ... It's just that I was surprised by the amount of effort to get those pictures. I shot over 100 images before choosing those two. It was the little things ... lots and lots of little things: facing the wrong direction by just a little; position -- everything OK except that part of me was out of frame; lighting OK and then 10 minutes later, my head is a hotspot in the picture; pose and smile were in a constant battle -- often had one in a picture but not the another. The sorts of things a photographer would see/correct about how the subject was posed before even looking into the viewfinder ... and then, looking through the viewfinder, some posing reminders ... smile ... click. But it was fun ... and I have at some additional self portrait projects in mind. > I simply voted for the subject So you're mostly looking for a judgeship. LOL MGD

I'll throw in a vote for FOOD, but will enjoy any of the topics! ~Does the 'private' posession image have to be an image of yer, uh, um.... never mind.

MGD ( ) posted Sat, 01 May 2004 at 7:23 PM

@TMGraphics - > Does the 'private' posession image Uummm, I think it was "Prized Possession" ... then again, ... maybe we shouldn't go there ... with a camera. LOL MGD

TMGraphics ( ) posted Sat, 01 May 2004 at 10:11 PM

Oh... private...prized... same thing :p
