Well all, this will likely be my last post as a Brycer. I'm moving onto Cinema4D but I decided to finish off one last image before I ended my Bryce career entirely. I hope you guys all enjoy it. Just wanted to thank you all for helping me find my way through Bryce over the last few months, especially those who helped with my recent photo-realism project. I guess it will never be finished now but as a gesture of appreciation I will be posting all of the models and materials in the freestuff section for anyone who is interested, look for them in the coming days. Anyway just wanted to thank you all, you will be missed. Look for me in the Cinema4D galleries and maybe some day on the frontpage of CGNetworks ;) Thanks! Blog

As one door closes, another opens. I hope you find what you're looking for in that new room. But remember there's a party going on in here and there will always be a glass of Bucks Fizz and a sausage roll here waiting.

You may be changing program but that doesn't mean you can't drop by now and again to say hello. Hope you have fun on your new path. 8) Catlin

C4D seems to be an excellent product (an opinion that seems to be shared by some media powerhouses) and I wish I could afford it - but face it - their forum just isn't as colorful as this one is - now is it?

Not really. Still a helpful and polite spot but it just doesn't feel home-ish.

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!

Good Luck I too have been considering C4D or Carrara recently to replace Bryce...

Incarnadine ( ) posted Mon, 03 May 2004 at 8:07 PM

I am enjoying C4D myself, recommend 8.5 with the advanced render module to start. May tinker with bryce again soon though (no promises)

You'LL be back...I can almost Guarentee it...One a brycer always a Brycer...You will start to build your models and start by Importing into Bryce...I moved on to MayaPLE and G-Max and Truespace6.6 and I still render most of my scene's in Bryce still...So will you at first...

Blog ( ) posted Mon, 03 May 2004 at 8:22 PM

Well actually one of the main attractions for Cinema for me was the fact that I can render in a tiny fraction of the time Bryce takes and get a much better quality render to boot!

foleypro ( ) posted Mon, 03 May 2004 at 8:38 PM

Yeah...I am trying to save enough money so I can get Maya Educational Version...But I still like my render times in Bryce...I render usually around 3000x2500 or like this and I am at about 3 hours now I have done some scene's that have taken 40 hours to render...Like the Magazine Contest submission I did "Warmth of a Good Fire"that took 40 hours to render...But it was well worth the wait...But like I said you'll come back...Especially with it looking like Bryce Pro might become a reality with Eris Wenger still holding the Rights to the code to Bryce and Not Vector and like them Corel or Metacreations,They only leased the code....Well good luck...See ya soon...

Eris=Eric Wenger...Dang Typo's....

As far as I know Maya Personal Learning Edition is free.

foleypro ( ) posted Mon, 03 May 2004 at 8:48 PM

Oh I know that I play with it everyday...I want the Real Maya but I cant afford it...So I was thinking of getting a Student Version(If it still will let ya render and export out Models and scene's)if not then I want the full version...

I use Max a fair amount and still find myself 'timesharing' with Bryce, and I still come in here for artistic comment (ok the max forum here is pretty dead :-( )
