Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 26 1:43 pm)
oh..I'm upwards of a megabyte now..;) but then half the stuff I've set up belongs to 'the shruggin' man'..saru's just 2 eyeballs..if it weren't for Sixus..it'd be even less..gotta still figure what goes where..;)
I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

Mine is 42 gig. Yes, gig. That doesn't include my own work files for clothing and objects that I keep. That's another 4 or 5 gig. And it doesn't include all those texture files I use but aren't part of my runtime, another 3 gig. The total is pushing 50 gig. So I'm a junkie. I never delete anything. I don't even know what half of the stuff is. Thank the goddess for big hard drives. But I'm keeping it ALL. MWHAAAAHHAAAAAHHAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!! (please note: multiple exclamation points are the sign of a diseased mind)
OK, so I admit it. I've got a 120 gig and a 160 gig drive. Poser is on the 120, work files and uh, other things are on the 160. I am planning on pruning my runtime though. I got a DVD R/W not long ago, and I'm going to back a lot of old stuff onto it. And I didn't count my P4 installation... Geeze, it's probably 10 to 12 gig.
p4 - 21.5 gigs p5 - 2.03 gigs Not counting my Images folder, Characters in Progress folder, and Working Products folder which add another 10 gigs or so ..not counting the PoserWorldProduct folder which is at 2.5 gigs right now .... just wrapped up another huge product there and will burn it off to CD tonight. I have a 120 gig HD devoted to graphics. Games? who has time to play games? Lyrra
P4 - 20.1 gb P5 - 810 mb I haven't installed everything i have in the runtimes. 120 gig HD, 70 gig partition for poser JV

OMG you people are insane! LOL! My Runtime is 3.75 GB and I think that is way too large! I'm constantly pruning stuff out of it too because you have to come to a point where it's impossible to know what resources you have available and it's just wasting disk space.
Admittedly it's easier to maintain such a small Runtime when all you do are pinup renders and nudes:
V3 - check
Lingerie - check
Props for ambiance - check
Good to go! :)
Nope, the pz3 files are burnt on cd's ( i got 33 of them)

24.8 GB here.
I am going to be getting a bigger HD soon.
I also need to weed out a lot of things as I have much stuff for Victoria 2 that I do not use so much anymore.

17.5gb... must admit I got a bit scared when I clicked Properties and the hourglass just started spinning... thought it was going to be even bigger! I really have to sort my runtimes out. There's loads of stuff there that I've used only once or not at all. There's too much yummy freestuff out there!

You guys are nuts. =O) I was just wondering if Poser has any professional applications? I've hear that police forensics like using it for crime scene reproduction, and I have scene it used in some advertisments but are there any other real world uses for it? Or is it just a form of entertainment for people like us. Oh yeah... 2.3GB Poser5 only... but isn't it how you use it? The Ever Viscious Skidlicious
25.4gigs in the external runtimes (which mirrors the old P4 runtime with new runtimes to keep some things seperated and easier to find). No scene files, no modded textures (-that- would add another 8 gig or so), and the only bum files are those that came with P4; the rest were converted over time to jpeg. Years and years of years and years.....
gee. Mines only floating around 5GB right now. Oh, wait, forgot that runtime and that one and that one. And, oh yeah, that one. um, well, I've got a lot of stuff. Dunno how much, and I'm too damn tired to think about it.
thou and I, my friend, can, in the most flunkey world, make, each of us, one non-flunkey, one hero, if we like: that will be two heroes to begin with. (Carlyle)
Mine is at 1.26, and I thought that was way to much and can get confusing, that I have deleted some files (Obj files, stuff in libraries, and also including with the texture folders) that I do not need. Now I have seen big time Runtime folders in here (Amazing). Wondering how in the world can they keep track of everything in Poser?. Now, just imagine when everyone here and even myself, need to reinstall everything...hehe..that is the painfull part.
Oog. I know exactly how big my runtime is, last week I had to move Poser from my 10GB D: drive to my 40GB C: drive -- the free space kept falling below 500MB, and I was running out of other odds and ends to shift off my two year old never-fill-that-in-a-million-years 10GB drive... I also know now how just long it takes to copy 7.5GB from one drive to another. Never mind my 2GB archive of .pz3 files, that was already on the C: drive.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

Some of you appear to be using Disk Compression and some not.For those that are not, why not?
For those that are, ever have any difficulties?
(Posted as a separate question linked above, but this thread is what started me wondering).

Runtime library that is. :-) Mine is 6.27GB...sad isn't it?
My idea of rebooting is kicking somebody in the butt twice!
