Congratulations, Chohole, you have written a title for this thread that pretty much guarantees most people will read it. :^) My opinion; as long as the nipples don't show in your image, it isn't nudity. And she IS covered with bark. Is this a Dryad?

This is not my "second childhood". I'm not finished with the first one yet.

It's borderline nudity, so it's hard to say, some might find it nudity and others not....... This wouldn't be the myth of Daphne and Apollo would it? Or just an image of Dryads?

Zhann, its just an image of dryads, I did try it once before and then left it. Now I was thinking of trying to resurrect it and maybe enter the r'osity spring contest for a laugh. Did try undines, but they just won't work out right.

undines: (a) In the occult philosophy of Paracelsus, beings having water as their element or (b) typo of undies sorry, that just tickled my funnybone, given the title of the thread

I think could not actually be called nudity. As matrixmode says, she's wearing a bark bodysuit ;)

yeah...what is nude about it? nothing borderline at all..there isnt ANY skin showing :) ...tough to have nudity without bare skin

electroglyph ( ) posted Sat, 08 May 2004 at 7:45 AM

Let me ask a question; would you stand in front of a camera that way and have a photo taken? (If so please post to the forum immediately;). Seriously though, if the answer is no then you yourself have reservations about it. Teresa had porphyria. This was the disease Dracula had and was the reason for the vampire legend. Aside from intolerance to sunlight and a craving for raw meat one of the lesser-advertised symptoms is irritation at having anything touching the skin. I used to tease her about being my little Ferengi wife. The entire medical trauma got me so used to seeing nudity that I look at the body as just another organ. Put a naked and clothed woman in front of me and I'd be more attracted to the one that didn't want to see the finale of Friends. As someone who has been repeatedly trained at great government expense to respect and appreciate everyone's viewpoint and opinion but his own I have the following official opinion. "My God" (oops can't mention God either) " what were you thinking? In Uzbekistan theyd drag you out to the edge of town and stone you! What if someone in town actually had electricity or a computer and homeland security wasn't jamming the signal? Do you want them to see this as an example of our culture? What of the Wymen of the New Age? 1.6% of the population actually believes in Dryads. Have you researched this document or consulted with Wiccan or Hellenic priests/priestess to see if this image respects their belief system? In long, I see nothing offensive about this image, but I'm sure that someone, somewhere is boiling over it. Check the nudity box and move on. (Besides it will guarantee you 50% more views. Such is the world we live in.)

I think that some may think that this could be considered nudity. You can't say that she has no skin showing because the bark is her skin. Some may say that since she is obviously not wearing any clothing, she is nude. Not that I personally mind, I think its a great start to what will end up being a great image. I just like to play devil's advocate sometimes. :-)

If I trail a few vines up the tree then that would solve all sorts of problems

bikermouse ( ) posted Sat, 08 May 2004 at 8:23 AM

Yeah I think it is, but vines will only serve to point that out. Since you seem to disagree, I wouldn't go overboard with the vines - perhaps just a leaf or two here and there and using a chromatisy for them close to that of the dryad.

vasquez ( ) posted Sat, 08 May 2004 at 8:36 AM

Nudes are also in Cappella Sistina in Rome, I don't think that your kind of nudity will offend anyone, and if it is so, it's because some people has too much malice. my 2 cents

Quest ( ) posted Sat, 08 May 2004 at 9:18 AM

I think it's a wonderfully developing image and if the nude figure offends people, they shouldn't be viewing art and this certainly doesn't fall under erotic art. Leave the vines, it gives the image more appeal by making her seem as she's definitly part of the tree IMO.

draculaz ( ) posted Sat, 08 May 2004 at 10:02 AM

are you kidding? i'm wear less clothes when i check r'osity... it's fine and tasteful. drac

Damia ( ) posted Sat, 08 May 2004 at 10:02 AM

To be on the safe side, keep the vines. I really like how it looks with and without, but just to be safe in regards to the rules.....you don't want to take a chance they won't accept it. Maybe do 2 versions, one with and one without the vines....with for the contest, and without for your gallery as a version 2. It's an excellent image so far. I do think the vines solves the problem of whether it's considered nudity or not. I can't wait to see the finished image! :)

Oh, heavens, that is so NOT nudity. It's the shape of a human body, but with none of the detail that denotes nudity. It looks nice with or without vines ... it's going to be a great image.

Could be worse, could be raining.

Does the light look right, or should I go back to standard bryce sunlight? Are the light rays too pronounced. Ok that's actually two questions. Not anti aliased yet, still loads more to do, but how is it looking so far. There will be a focal point in the soace where the lightbeams are.

bikermouse ( ) posted Sat, 08 May 2004 at 1:26 PM

looks good to me!

Damia ( ) posted Sat, 08 May 2004 at 4:18 PM

That looks great! I can't seem to get a ground shape like that. It's probably something so simple I'm overlooking. The light beams may be a little bit too pronounced at the bottom. If you can blur them or something a little more, I would keep them instead of the bryce light. I love the little green sprites (I guess you would call them?). The woman in the tree is beautiful. :)

I would have to say that if its for the springtime contest then putting a few well placed leaves, vines etc would be your safest bet. I don't think that its nudity per se, but for the contest it might not make it in its original form. Also, I personally like the added greenery. Good luck!

chohole ( ) posted Sun, 09 May 2004 at 2:08 AM

Damia, for the ground I have used tiled terrains, lowered them slightly and then carefully used the brush in the terrain editor to make the stream more definate, and some higher areas in the back ones. The stream is actually the default ground plane with a water mat.

Damia ( ) posted Mon, 10 May 2004 at 12:02 PM

Tiled terrains.....hmmm. Can't say that I know how to do that. I need to do some more tutorials. :) Thanks for explaining it. I love the close view of terrains like that. It's time to go experimenting!

This is a stunning image chohole, only thing I don't really like is the tree figure on the right side. I think that distracts from the main dryad on the left. Catlin
