I had posted few days ago that I had landed up with my first ever photo assignment. Well, it was tough, diff to what I was doing and fun too. The project is over now and I have submitted the images to the client. After obtaining due permission from him I might post some here. Meanwhile I wanted to share with you all a letter of appreciation sent by him which I just received in mail. :O)) Dear Mr. rajan, Greetings! I am thankful to you and your family for providing a cordial atmospheres during the photography sessions of our Hindi Bibles at your place. I just want to express my heartfelt gratitude and deep appreciation for each effort you did with full devotion and dedication wholeheartedly giving rise excellent results. I apologize you for not asking you to choose a copy of the Bibles to be your personal copy. The option is open. You may choose any copy you like and and tell me, and I'll bring it to you. Thanking you. Sincerely, xxxxx

Congrats my friend! :) May i ask on the money, this job was worth? Sorry for asking, but - i guess this could be interesting, even if the prices over there aren't really comparable to e.g. the german market.

Well done Young Man!

Well, I am to charge him yet and I really have no clue so I am asking around. Firstly, this publisher is more like a charity organisation who just publishes Bible translation in Hindi. He doesn;t publish anything else and is not a very big or lucrative kind of publishing house. This website for which he needed the pics is being built by someone on charity basis, no payments charged. So , considering all that factor, if I covert to dollars and tel you, its like roughly 200$ for innumerable pics I clicked. :O)) SNAKEY

Ok, in that case it wouldn't be ok to charge him more. I'd do it for free but insist on having my name on that website. That could give you a good reputation and make your name known ... but as i don't have clue of those things, i'm not sure if this is a good advice ;) :-) Tom

Chalk this one up to experience, and learn from it. Get an idea what to charge in the future for something like this by asking other photographers what they would charge before you give a price. And accept the Bible Raj, it would be rude not to. Brenda :)

I agree, accept the Bible so as not to dishonor his offer. Do not charge $$ in lieu of recognition on the web site with a link to your business email for future offers/business. Follow up with an appreciation letter 4 weeks from now, thanking him for the opportunity to do this work for him, then another in 6 months just to say hello and let him know how much you are enjoying the Bible. Best to keep all networks open and alive. Sounds Like you did a superb job!! TMGraphcis

I think the response to this post is very thought provoking and I see some very good and wise tips by my friends. Honestly, this project was not started or done with the aim of making money, it just landed up. Secondly, I wish to make ti known to you all that till recently, I was on net thanks to a sponsor from Greece who is an American Citizen and who has been a great friend for years on net. She and me started working on PSP 4 years back and reached the level of giving online tutorials in Animation and Graphics to about 400 online members for free. The Online group had to be closed as we found ourself growing to diff areas of Graphics and could not stick only to PSP. I am quoting this because I wish to let you all know that I am not financially too brilliant to start charity on my own. ;) I have been living on one, practically. However, I think I will consider the wise suggestions and leave it for the publisher to pay what he thinks is just and jump out of the confusion of having to charge. As for the Bible.......... I will surely accept it. I will also be showing u some of the bibles or pictures taken by me in near future. Thanks all!! You are a wonderful bunch. Love and Peace SNAKEY
