I don't think you'd have much of a problem as long as your processor can handle it.

I run PS 7, Snag-It, and PS Image Ready (all paint programs) and Rhino V 2 and 3 simultaneously with no problems. (W-XP on P4 with G Force 4 graphics card 1G RAM).

PSP and Photoshop actually work extremely well with each other. Both use the same filter format, and you can instruct PSP to access the filter files in Photoshop to use in PSP. I use both programs constantly. The browse feature in PSP is the bomb, and there are some strengths that PSP has that are better than Photoshop. For example, JPG compression is far better in PSP than in photoshop. Photoshop was never intended to work with JPGs, and I suspect they threw it in there only for internet use, and it isn't very good. I NEVER make a JPG in Photoshop. Only BMPs or TIFFs or CMYK files. I often have Photoshop and PSP open at the same time, working in Photoshop and using the browse function in PSP to select the images I want to bring into Pshop. No problems. In fact the only problem I have is that a friend gave me PSP 8 as a gift and they've changed freakin EVERYTHING in it lol. Deep Paint works with Photoshop. It doesn't have a plugin for PSP as far as I know.

Nevada, I use Photoshop and Poser simultaneously and have had no problems with either of them. As was mentioned already, it only requires you have a processor big enough to run them, since both are rather large programs. Poser especially can grow to be a monsterous program once you start adding props, characters, textures, and etc. I think its just a matter of preference as to whether you like PSP or Photoshop, and Poser or Bryce. Many artists here use a variety of combinations of the above. Best of Luck, CM

The truth is, while most artists have their favorite programs, we'll mostly use anything we can get our hands on lol

Deep Paint works with Photoshop 7 and earlier, It is not compatible with CS as yet (another reason not to use 'Deep Pain' oops seem to have dropped the 't'!). They've been working om getting it compatible for ages, Photoshop was released october last year and they still haven't got their finger out! Hey Cryptojoe, Snagit? thought that was a capture app? & PS 7, PS Image Ready, you can't really seperate Photoshop from Imageready as they are packaged together. Can you even install Photoshop without Imageready?

You could do a custom install, but why? I rarely use image ready but now and then it comes in handy

Image Ready has quickly become one of my favorite apps. As Bone mentioned earlier, Photoshop never seemed to handle JPGs as good as it could have (lousy compression), but then came ImageReady. Since the two are tied together it's almost like an extension of Photoshop or like being in a filter dialog. It's compression options more than make up for what Photoshop lacks. It's a lot like Firewire (Macromedia).

Yup, Snag-It is a great little inexpensive screenshot capture and it also helps you make tutorials like we do over in the Rhino forum. You can actully compile those motion picture thingies where you show moving the cursor to the different pulldown windows and stuff.

I use them for screen captures then if need be pull them up in Image ready to paste them together or touch them up.

I often times open Image Ready seperately from Photoshop, I get lost trying to switch back and forth.... ...my personal preference for getting around CRS (Can't Remember Sh..!) LOL.

I use Photoshop mostly for making textures and touching up my Flamingo or Penguin Renders (those are plug in renderers for Rhino 3D).

Well personally, I have Photoshop CS, Corel Painter, ZBrush 2 (and use bodypaint instead of Deep Paint)... oh and microsoft paint as well! lol! The only thing you need to 'worry' about if installing multiple paint programs, is File associations, which app opens which file type, but that's not a big problem. As for Poser, there are plenty of free utilities for use with poser, uvmapper, MatPoseEdit etc. If you going to be making animations, then a decent Video editor may be useful. Ask in the forum for recommendations (don't forget to mention price) about ease of use or the learning curve.
