Subject: stupid question ....

I know it's stupid because it's been asked before but I can't find it in the archives. {{sigh}} How do you convert a picture (tiff, jpeg) into a bump or bum file? Thanks, Ken

In Poser 4 only: add a simple prop, then in the material dialogue, select the JPG to apply as a bump map. Poser will convert it for you. Pro Pack and Poser 5 use the JPG directly.

Here's a tutorial on how to create them using Photoshop 7.0, I'm sure it's easily adapted to any photo-editing software.

funny cause I have propack and it still asks for the bump map. Gods I hope I don't have to do a re-install

Thanks D-Larsen :) I'll check it out

If you're using a downloaded item that was created in Poser 4, there may still be a reference to a .BUM type bump map in the library file. In that case, ignore it, then apply the JPG/TIF version afterwards. Save it back to the library for next time.

Ahhhhh :) okay I'll give it a try

Or open the file in a text editor and change the file extension .bum to .jpg.

Or use CorrectReference to fix the problem easily. You can get the free version in free stuff. Or you can spend a few bucks and get CorrectReference Pro. You'll find many new, indispensible features in CorrectReference Pro.
