Subject: Photoshop settings for making thumbnails

Poser Pro Pack is supposed to be able to display .png files for thumbnails. But when I make them using the default setting in Adobe Photoshop, the thumbnails appear to faded and squished in Poser. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? There must be some setting in Photoshop that I am missing.

I just resize the image to 91px by 91px, save as, .png, name it, and none when it asks if interlaced or none. That's it! No one has complained about any of my thumbnails in my packages.

Make sure you flatten the image in Photoshop - Poser doesn't always like having an alpha channel in the .png.

I always make sure the image is 91x91 and use the "save for web" options and save as PNG-24. bonni

If you 'flatten' the image, any areas that are transparent will become your background colour! Do as elizabyte says and set up your image with transparency, then 'save for web'(PNG-24). Also in PPP the thumbnails can be more than 91 Pixels high

If you have Poser 5, you can make a 91x91 document window, get the image just the way you want, render, and then save it to your library. Voila! Instant thumbnail.

why limit yourself to 91x91? p5 and PP can handle bigger.

Because it gets really hard to scroll through alot of images. Especially, if make them wider than the 91px. Consistency makes things look better organized and boy do I need help with that!

Tyger_purr ( ) posted Thu, 13 May 2004 at 4:45 PM

I only make them big if there are only a few items in the folder (the one shown above, only has that sword in it. I leave it alone so that i will know who to credit the model to.) most of my "oversided" thumbnails are not as big as this one. consistance may make them look more organized, but clarity make them easier to find/identify. if they all look the same, i'd never find anything :-) I even set my DAZ PT kids larger than the PS kids and smaller than the DAZ adults.

I understand and agree with you, I was trying to have some fun at my own expense. No offense meant Tyger!

I have a free PS action that will do the work for you. (I'm lazy, what can I say.) Just save your original as a .tif file and open it up in Photoshop. Run the action and you'll have a .png file with a blank background.

Cheers!
