Ok, I've loaded, M3 for instance and put clothes on him. Now I want another 6 just like him. How do I do that without going through the same thing of clothing him etc. etc. In short can I copy a complete character or is there some way I can save the one I clothed and tweaked and then import it 6 times. I saved one as a pz3 but when I put it in a scene I got all the lights that were on it when I saved him. Is this making sense? :-) If there's an easy way to do this please tell me !

save him in your characters folder that should do it for you

Sace the whole thing to the Figures library by selecting M3's body and hitting the + sign. Answer "Yes" if Poser asks if you wish to save the whole set. After that, reload by selecting the icon from the Figures Pallete and hitting the double check marks.

And if you want to actually have six different Mikes and you are using Poser4, to avoid cross talk when you are loading them from the character library you must use a null figure. Remember though, each different Mike must be saved already and available from your Character library, since after loading them using the null figure you won't be able to morph them. Pose them, yes, but not morph them. I forget right now where to find that null figure, but I'm sure somebody remembers. And I'm sure somebody will also know if I got this explanation wrong! Cheers, Jack

Re post #4:

Once you have saved your composit figure to a pallet you can load as many instances as you like, you will be able to use individual morphs on them without using a null figure, but any Full Body Morphs (FBMs) will crosstalk. If you use a null figure in the correct way you will not get crosstalk and will be able to use the FBMs.

You can download a null figure from the site linked above, see "Click here for the "crosstalk" solution." near the top of the page.

Whoa already, ok you guys have really got me confused now. I'm using Poser 5 and I'm a newbie and only doing still pictures right now so I don't think crosstalk is a problem. None of the above worked, pressing + for instance did nothing at all. perhaps i didn't say it too well. I want to be able to clothe a figure and then save that complete figure to use again without having to redo it each time. Please give me an answer step by step. Thanx.

You are in the posing room? You have a dressed Mike standing there? go to the library palette. Make sure that you are in FIGURES. Up at the top there is a funny arrow-thingy and you can use that to navigate to the Figures library if you aren't there. Full dressed characters must be saved there. The file will have the extension .cr2 for character. Hair will save in the Hair library and props to the Props library, etc., but characters go under Figures. Poser 5 has subfolders. You might have one for Mike already, or you can make your own. /Figures/M3/name-of-project whatever. So you are in the Figures Library and you click on some part of your character (not the clothes, not the hair... some actual body part) so that it is active (red lines). On the verybottom of the library palette should be 4 signs: check, double check, plus, and minus. Click on plus (+) that will bring up the dialogue box. Tell it that you want to include everything. I have tried to give a graphic representation of the steps.

That DOES make it clear! :)

Many many thanx guys, I was able to do it from Hauksdottir's explanation. The graphic explanation is great and exactly how I managed it. Again many thanx, it makes life so much easier being able to save a whole character to use again instead of having to load a blank and clothe it etc. Thanx.
