Good choices for the story winners. They would have been mine, as well. It's not too intolerable to take a back seat when the drivers are so skilled. Congratulations to rdf & SimplySabis.

It was a good group of stories and poems, and I am glad I didn't have to choose just two stories and two poems from the group. The nice thing is, there will be another contest and another opportunity. :)

Are you and deemarie the only judges dialyn, or are there more who have an input?

Unlike the cover contest, there are only three judges, who vary from writing contest to writing contest. This time, the judges were author and teacher Kenyon Charboneaux, and two winners of the last contast (midreal and hauksdottir). DeeMarie, who is an experienced editor, becomes a judge only in the event of a tie.

I do not participate as a judge either in this or the cover contest.

The voting system is as follows:

The judges vote independently. They give 3 points to the poem and the short story they feel is the best, 2 points to their second choice, and 1 point to their third. This is the same system that is used for the cover contest and many of the challenges. The person with the most points wins. Sometimes there is a clear winner. Most often it is very, very close.

The judges are not allowed to enter the contest.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Ah, thanks for the info. I may already be aware of it and seem incredibly stupid for asking this, but what and where is the cover contest? I've just started my part of the Echoes In The Dark story, I'm doing more writing than I was before I started writing here recently so everything is a great help!

The front page of Renderosity is a great place to check for contests and challenges, by the way. :)

At the top of the page, directly under the banner ads, there is a link for "Contests." This link will list all the currently running contests and is often easier to view than Rosity's Front Page.

So there is. :) I've been visiting Renderosity for years and have never clicked there before! I suppose I never considered myself good enough for any of the software challenges. :S

I don't either, but it is still fun to see what graphics other people are entering. Sometimes you can get some ideas; sometimes encouraged to try something new.

Yeah, I agree. I visited the Bryce forum recently and saw some challenge results in there - was impressed and inspired!

Check out the Challenge Forum. People from different forums create graphics on a single theme. I find that pretty interesting. Some of the results are stunning.
