Subject: WIP Towerside Balcony scene

Just a huge file I've been messing with for some time. I finally got enough RAM to merge the two parts (balcony section and the outer towers), and rendered it. Now I just need a bit of feedback. SHould I add more props? More plants? Anything? Also, I have purposely posted the NON-postworked, raw Bryce render. So I'm not really looking for post-work ideas, just conceptual ideas? Make any sense? Any critiques or suggestions would be vastly welcome, I love bouncing ideas off our Forum here, and often get excellent feedback...

Ambiance is little off(too high, in my opinion), and those flames should differ a little... Other then that great looking start ! :) P.S. Outfit on the female does not exactly match mood of the rest of the image, u might consider changing it, but again, its your call...:)

I'm torn. I will see renders with compositions like this and say to myself, I LIKE that POV, I should do something like that myself!(camera angle, bank, big open sky). But, that's usually the first thing I change with my own renders. Something in me just wnats to pan the camera down just an inch or so, lol... For some reason I want to put some birds way in the background. But, yes a fantastic start you have. AS

Well I'll be, I do believe you have some romance in you shadow. You got some great motion in the female character from the POV and overall composition. If anything the male pose seems a bit dull to me. Maybe a bit more interaction with her. Maybe it's time for a proposal? Of course it all depends on what you want to convey... he might be mad because of the burnt toast. Definitely add some realism to the flames though.

A great scene and I love the POV, BUT, and there always is a but, I agree with Muddy there should be some sort of contact between the two, even if it's just an arm raised to touch her shoulder. Apart from that it's wonderful. Power to you Shadow. 8) Catlin

Aye, I never intended for them to be, "flames", they are actually meticulously crafted crystals from Rhino. I'll have to illuminate them and send some lasers skyward or something... I'll work on the characters a bit, and I think Agent Smith is correct. There are three action planes, the foreground, the towers, and the sky, but I need something else to blend them together. Birds, or dragons flying...? Maybe some trees on the ground....? More foliage, certainly... Thanks for viewing, and for the input, everyone! (glares at the "romance" notion...) (heh!)

hmmnnn....my first thought when I looked at it was that the scenery was the hero of the piece, and the characters were a bit of a distraction. How about getting rid of the characters (don't shoot me) and maybe putting in a character who's leaning out over the balcony rail and looking downwards, so the viewer can wonder what's going on down below lol

catlin_mc ( ) posted Wed, 19 May 2004 at 1:19 PM

Oh yes that's a good idea pogmahone, maybe it would work better with the solitude of a lone figure pondering war, or victory, or what not. 8)

.....or it could be real mysterious if the figure was dangling something peculiar-looking over the edge, as if passing it down to someone/something below :shiver: all sorts of creepy possibilities ;o)

(grins at you people!) Aye, needless to say, this scene needs some evolution. I'll slave at it a bit and post a new render soon... Thanks for all the great ideas and comments, everyone. Hope to see mroe from you all soon...!
