has anyone in this community ever heard of anyone in this community having one of their characters put into a PC or console game????? i have a few decent ideas for game characters, but no idea where to go with them.......getting paid isn't really an issue......just being able to say, "yeah, that's my design, alright.....".....

I've seen a few games made using poser in some way. I'll see if I can dig up the links.

And Eidos upcoming blockbuster "Hitman" uses Poser characters too. I think that Poser is used more in the gaming industry to create the general idea and test animations. Not for the actual thing. Most gaming companies I have been to use either 3D Studio Max, Maya or Lightwave to make the actual movies or characters. Nevertheless I'd love to see some of those designs you mentioned :) The Engineer.

that was my thinking on it, that Poser could be used for character design....to see how the character should look from all angles and such............thanks for the info, peoples.......... ;)

From what I've heard only two games extensively use Poser characters (Tribal Rage and Might and Magic 8) - however, the Zygote figures have shown up a lot in other games, rendered with other engines - let's face it, if your choices are: 1) spend days or weeks weeks modelling, jointing, etc. your own character models, 2) buy a good figure from Zygote for less than $1000USD or 3) buy a SLIGHTLY better one from Viewpoint for three to seven times that and you're limited by both a deadline and a tight budget, which would you choose?

Definetly Zygote seems to be doing ok with their model line. (I'm still trying to think of more ways to use that dragon I got from them.) Someone mentioned that they could put some info in about the texture maps though. I'm sure that couldn't be a bad thing. If they could do a cool bodybuilder type (yep, like the freaks you see in the magazines) for under $100 so that you could alter vein thickness and a bit more muscle definition, the Barbarian/Warrior genre would really get a boost.
