You can download a demo version, experiment and read the pdf documentation.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

Thank you.

Nice app, kawecki ! I can see just a little problem : the top of the arch should be represented by a single stone, and not divided between 2. Anyway, your proggy gives a very good approach.

This is very cool, a great idea. Please let us know when the full version will be available. Thanks for the demo, I really like ie.

Ready is ready, but I shall wait some days to see if have any bug. Probably you may need to remap the arcs with UVMapper depending of the kind of mapping that you do. Compiler: I didn't understood what you mean.

Sorry for not being very clear. From what I saw in the churches around, there is a central stone at the top of the arches which doesn't appear in your meshes. Again, it's just a little detail.

kawecki ( ) posted Sun, 23 May 2004 at 12:24 PM

Oh, I understood, the keystone. It is used in some arcs, only in round arcs (roman). I have not included the keystone, the size is much bigger than the other stones and is difficult to include it in the general generating algorithm using sines and cosines, anyway you can remap the arc and use some photograph of an arc.

Yeah, I see what you mean. The program is generating Gothic arches rather than Roman type arches. While it would be "historically inaccurate" from an architectural perspective, a user could always simply paint in a central top keystone in a texture map.

That's really cool. I'd like to see it have an option to put a small bevel around all of the edges.

Edges of the walls?

What a terrific concept. Thanks for taking the time to make this app and more importantly for sharing it. It's far better than any other wall/arch maker I've seen (none) and I look forward to trying it. =)

Ajax ( ) posted Sun, 23 May 2004 at 7:10 PM

Yes, the edges of the walls, but also the inner edges of the arch. The edges will look a lot sharper and smoother in Poser if they have a very small bevel on them. You could make the bevel size adjustable too. In the picture you've posted above, I'd put a bevel on five edges - the outer edge of the wall, the inner edge of the arch and the three edges stepping out from that inner one. You could split the vertices there instead, but bevelling tends to look better.

There is very little visual difference, it depend much on the texture used than on the geometry, with some textures the big blevel of the arc is not visible. Adding blevel to the wall it will complicate the task of joining several arcs. Greater visual differences can be achieved separating the groups of the arc and then joining again welding or not welding some parts of the arc.
