Subject: Vue Moderator Stuff

Hi all! Well, as most of you probably know, bloodsong wants to resign as moderator of this here Vue forum. Well, sooner or later, all good things must come to an end. :( So, I'm supposed to officially announce my candidacy for the position as moderator of this greatest of lists, with the greatest of people on the 'net. :) Though I really can't promise a lowering of taxes for you, I can promise that this list would be maintained with the same love and care as it is under bloodsong's regime. I think Bill (tesign) wanted to assassinate me already (please, at least wait until I take office!), so I guess I have to be careful. ;) SOMEBODY has to do it, and as far as I know, no one else has stepped forward. I'm not exactly the most experienced Vue user around, but I'm getting better, and slowly learning about the more advanced features. If you expect your new moderator to be a whiz at Vue, and be able to answer any and all questions accurately, then you want to vote me out. Don't worry about "hurting my feelings", as I'm really only doing this because I know bloodsong wants out, and I'm hoping to help out. Personally, I think a moderator SHOULD be an expert, but it's not a requirement, per se', because most of what a moderator HAS TO do seems to be to keep an eye on the membership, make sure the pictures in the gallery conform to the rules, and keep the Warez pirates out. I'm sure there are other duties as well, but these seem to be the most important. Again, I would actually prefer that someone with more experience in Vue were to step up and "apply", but again, as far as I know, no one else has. So, now what? I don't know. Bloodsong told me to email Tim Choates and ask him about it, but he hasn't yet replied to my email, which I sent yesterday morning at about this time. So, I don't know...I guess it's going to be a vote thing? I suppose just say yes or no.? Well, that about wraps up my candidacy speach, I guess, and I suppose that the polls are now open! Cheers! And happy Vue-ing! :) Mike

wohoo!! can we sling mud at ya yet?? :) (i suppose if i do that, you'll quit and go home. ::sigh:: i never get to have any fun!) you got my vote, mike. at least you actually own vue, and if renderosity has to pick another moderator from somewhere else, that might not be the case. (though i'm sure we can convert them... heh heh!) okay, guys, this friday is the thirteenth and a full moon! if nobody else is gonna volunteer to run against mike, i say we swear him in then! THIS IS YOUR LAST WARNING! :)

MikeJ ( ) posted Wed, 11 October 2000 at 7:56 AM

Mud slinging? At poor defenseless me? Are we talking Vue mud here or real mud? Sure, go for it, but remember, I don't even know any White House interns, and I haven't been involved in any real estate scandals, either. So, you'll have to sling Vue mud at me, I guess. :P Ask not what your country can do for Vue, but what Vue can do for your country...err, something like that. So, the polls close on Friday the 13th, eh? Full moon, too? Looks like I'll be staying home THAT night! Thanks, bloodsong. :) Cheers, Mike PS Still haven't heard back from Tim yet, though.........

Can I run on the same ticket as Mike, but not as an opponent? Kate (who prefers to be an assistant rather than the head honcho)

MikeJ ( ) posted Thu, 12 October 2000 at 6:21 PM

Kate, As far as I'm concerned, you can. :) I don't know how it all works, though, but at least you know more than I do! Cheers, Mike PS Thanks for responding...everyone else seems to be staying FAR away from this subject... ;)

bloodsong ( ) posted Thu, 12 October 2000 at 7:12 PM

Woohoo! Allright...thanks everyone! Now what? Allright, well it's Friday morning and I just got up..... I've got alot of things I have to do today, as Friday's always a busy one for me, especially after this slack week I just had, but I'll be around tonight and this weekend. Bloodsong, I'll reply to your email tonight (without the """""'s). Cheers, all Mike

Well, I was only kidding. :) I've never really noticed that this forum needs moderation - we don't get too many flames and such here from what I can see (other than the occasional misguided brycer trying to pick on us). Congrats Mike! Any questions you don't know the answer to, I'm sure the rest of us will be more than happy to pop up and help out with. We're that kind of a group. Kate (who likes to hide in the background)

( I decided to be lazy today...there's always tomorrow ;) ) Kate, I agree that this list doesn't seem to need any moderation. I think I even wrote that to Tim...that the Vue-ers are pretty calm and get along well. :) But, I suppose it's just a technical thing that Renderosity has to have someone to point the finger at if something gets bad, or if the people get out of line or something. I definitely doubt I'll see any need to delete or ban anything or anyone. And if any misguided Brycers wanna come in here and slag or flame us, hopefully we can gently persuade them to try out the Vue demo. :) And if anyone comes here just to be mean or obnoxious...ZAPPOO..Seeya later..bye! From the Vue forum, that is. But, it's true... this is a nice and calm place, and I don't foresee any trouble. :) Thanks for the offer of help...you can bet yer grandma's cat I'm not going to be a Vue expert anytime soon! By the time I "master" Vue, they'll go and come out with version 4! Now, y'all get some new pictures into the gallery! I just put my first two in there in the past two days, and I think I'll have another one in there soon, just because I feel I ought to, but most of you are far better than I am.. I have learned alot by looking at your pictures! :) And by all means, don't forget to check out the E-on daily gallery every day. Some of the best of the best of Vue can be seen there, as well. :) Cheers! Mike PS I just learned about the daily gallery through the E-group Vue list.

Here you go buddy Mike! Congratulations! You ought to thank this ugly guy in me!...see...I was acting a sniper when I heard you got competition and Kate was already on my cross grid tele gunsite scope. My right index finger was already 1/3 way in pulling in the trigger but just at that moment, I thought I should be smarter then that! If Kate get blown off (sorry fairy Godmother....can't help it, you look like one...LOL!), there would be another and another and its endless and to much 'killing' and I do not have that much time. So I decided to work smart and work on a guy call "T C". There you go...a gun, errrr....may be I should actually say its a "double barrel" with an extra 5cm in diameter wider at this guy head and it all works! Here you go Mike!....LOL! Mike, do you know there is a place call "Artomania"? There were many other Vue site before the Vue list. It was mostly European community. Check out Karl Martin web ring (he's the Ring Master) and see the wonderful work some of them has done. Bill Tesign

MikeJ ( ) posted Fri, 13 October 2000 at 7:02 PM

Riot? Bring it on... I loved "Metal Health!" Oh wait...that's not what yer talking about, is it blush Anyway, ...uhh,...Long Live Vue!, or is that Viva Le Vue? Well, it's hard to think clearly when yer dodging assassin's bullets! But, I'm ready....got my survival gear with me, I do! BTW, does anybody know where I can get a Kevlar helmet in .vob format? It's just for a project, really... ;) Cheers, Mike PS: I'd like to thank the Academy for...ahh...skip it...

KateTheShrew ( ) posted Fri, 13 October 2000 at 8:42 PM

Well, see, it's like this, Bloodsong...I'm not sure I can whup Mike in a fair fight and I left all my blunt instruments at home and I'm still recovering from my three days in the heart of mormon country (shudder) and... Kate (friendly neighborhood rabble rouser) P.S. I have the welcome riot penciled in for early next week.

tesign ( ) posted Sat, 14 October 2000 at 12:34 AM

"Dodging assassin's bullet"?...en Mike, the pros nowadays shoot from the a**e up and no Kevlar helmet with Super "SNELL" approved can help you....it still reach your head inside out....LOL! Okay, this is my last ever OT. Back to work. Bill
