Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 22 9:27 pm)
Poser's icons use a special style of PNG, which isn't the same as PSP's idea of PNG. I find the easiest way to make a thumbnail is to set up the scene so that it shows my "whatever" to best advantage, then save a Light setting (LT2). This will quickly give a Poser-style PNG; just rename it and move it to go with your MOR file, and toss the dummy LT2.

I use that method too when I am just making one or two thumbnails, but when I want to add special text to them or make a lot of thumbs from scratch, there is a way to do it in an image editor. I use photoimpact, but I think this will apply to PSP and Photoshop as well. The PNG that Poser uses requires a transparent background and a single layer. All you have to do is set your background to transparent and create a new layer to hold whatever visual information you want. When you save the PNG be sure that "preserve transparent background" option (or whatever it is called in your program) is enabled - similar to the way you save a GIF with transparent background.

'now all I have to do is figure out how to create a zip file' You might want to check this link. It's a page of standards for merchants and has a lot of useful information and links. macThere's an erasier way with MPE... It copies the icon, if you have that setting on, to the new pose file. I save a special version of the character, with the mat or mor appiled, so it's thumbnail looks good. The use MPE, and it'll copy that thumb for you! Then you can load that thumb into the paint app of your choice, and embelish it, if you like. Scourge specifically added that by my request, and you might need a newer version, if you don't have the latest build.
Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.
With Pro Pack and Poser 5 you can also simply render a 91x91 picture and save that as a png. That's the way I do it when I only want one or 2 png's.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

Hi all...well I'm trying to create some MOR files for V2. I used Mat Pose Edit 3 and the MOR file itself works perfectly but when I viewed the file in Poser 4 Pro Pack I got the gray man icon...then I went to PS7 and made an icon 91*91 and saved it as a PNG with the same name as my MOR file...when I went backed to Poser instead of the gray man icon I got a blank space with a gray circle in the middle...can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong??
