Subject: Ahhh! The store changed! I'm frightened and confused!

The whole renderosity store looks different. I vexes and confuses me. Nay, I am perplexed and defuddled by this. Brain hurts... cannot... handle... change...

Beuargh! And your own colourschemes doesn't work in the store so you're stuck with the blinding white :o/ On the plus side it LOOKS like a better search option. Haven't tried it though so... But I see an "Advanced Search". I like the drop down with all the names too, but the first one of them ... "select top merchant"... YUCK!

I really miss the "What's New" option unless I'm too stupid to understand the menu system. It seems awful intimidating and not very friendly. I do like being able to search by selecting an artist without having to wait 5 minutes for it search through everything though!

One thing I liked about the old format was the larger thumbnails - it made quick browsing easier. With these smaller ones you really can't get a good idea of the product until you go to the full page. If they think they are saving bandwidth with smaller thumbs, they are mistaken because they are gonna get a lot more page loads now. It is one of the things I really don't like about the Poser Prose store either, and it really did distinguish Renderosity from the rest of the pack. Now they are just like all the rest.... boring.

Farside ( ) posted Wed, 26 May 2004 at 5:30 PM

I can't even see the product reviews on my screen, the text is the same color as the background.

I HATE the smaller thumbs...my old eyes ;)...need to hold a magnify glass to the monitor...grrrrrrrrrrrr

BillyGoat ( ) posted Wed, 26 May 2004 at 5:40 PM

Reminds me of retail - a new manager comes along and changes the entire store layout. Home Depot comes to mind. Paint is in plumbing, tools are in electrical, and everyone goes to Lowes... Why do people feel compelled to change stuff when it's just fine as it is?

Simderella ( ) posted Wed, 26 May 2004 at 6:13 PM

horrid, just horrid... Can't see my purchases or anything... arghhh... whats this fascination with cream... makes the whole place look untidy.. its now much harder to navigate... blarghhh.... who are the webdesigners? me thinks they should perhaps get a few more design & asthetics lessons.. ;) runs & hides teehee

I fail to see the 'blinding white' screen and the 'What's new' seems quite easy to find to me, maybe some monitors need calibrating and people need to not gripe at 'works in progress'?

Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.

Lawndart ( ) posted Wed, 26 May 2004 at 6:49 PM

How do you get a what's new on everything? I don't want to have to go into every subcatagory and do a what's new there. Don't mistake griping for concern.

Is there a way to see the list of your prefered/favorite vendors? The old system didn't seem to have this and I can't see it here either. Plus where's the What's New when you first enter the store?

Jozz ( ) posted Wed, 26 May 2004 at 7:21 PM

This is my first ever Renderosity complaint. This white background just doesn't work for my eyes, too much glare.

This will reduce my shopping/browsing in the marketplace.

My site colour preferences (with a dark background) should apply to the marketplace as well.

It's just logical that a harsh scheme such as this will not please all.

I think the old "Don't fix it if it's not broken" applies here.

PS: I hate white backgrounds, in case you had not guessed 8-)

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Wed, 26 May 2004 at 7:24 PM

I want to know where any of the categories, search, history etc are ..

Charlie_Tuna ( ) posted Wed, 26 May 2004 at 8:23 PM

Hmm, have people though about ejecting your cache files then trying again? maybe windose weirdness is not showing what's really there just what was there

I can't even find my purchase page.

aodor ( ) posted Wed, 26 May 2004 at 9:03 PM

PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!! BRING BACK THE GENERAL WHAT'S NEW SECTION. OTHERWISE SELLS WILL GO DOWN, IT TAKES 10 TIMES TO SEE WHAT'S NEW WITH THE CURRENT DESIGN

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Thu, 27 May 2004 at 12:57 AM

GAAH! I didn't even notice that the "what's New" was gone. This is a SERIOUS BLUNDER! That section/dropdown/link GOT TO GO BACK! When I browse for new stuff without searching for anything in particular, the What's New section was the one I used. But no more. I strongly agree with aodor, this WILL have a negative impact on the overall sales!

Ok... I see that the > icon is the "All Products" for the category. It automatically lists newest to oldest when you go into it. You also have a "What's new" button once you select the > icon for all products. This is starting to make sense now. I didn't see the > icon until someone posted about it in another thread. Once they fix the white color thing this will be workin ok. I'm liking it.

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Thu, 27 May 2004 at 3:07 AM

Yeah the main gripe right now are the colours. It's really really daft to launch something like this without testing it first. If you have anything but the dafault colours, chances are you won't be able to see your cart, wishlist or past purchases - black on black in my case. REALLY clever. NOT! I like the new division, after the What's new link was pointed out to me (but then it SHOULD NOT be necessary to have such an important link "pointed out" - it should be BIG AND BOLD) As for the miniscule thumbnails, I think it's a bad idea but at least my own are mostly visible. But it would really have been nice to know about the new mini thumbnails in advance, so you could design your thumbnails accordingly. AMny people put text on their thumbnails (for instance saying what character something is for) and that text will now be so tiny that it's lost. Of course you can click it to see it larger but the main idea of a thumbnail is to have something you can browse WITHOUT cthe need to click on everything. Or we might as well have only text links (No that was NOT meant as an idea for future "enhancements")
