Subject: Just got C3...Lighting question...

I find this a pretty sophisticated program but I can't figure out how to see the lights interacting on a model in the assemble room. I've set preferences to Open GL but no go. Painfully difficult to see what your lights are doing without wasting time rendering an image.

Try going into your display properties and setting the lighting mode to actual. It will give you a rough representation of what is happening.

You can also use the render preview tool to see what your final render will actually look like. -Kix

I can't for the life of me find the display properties setting you mention goofball. Where is that located?

On the right-hand side of your screen, there are a few circle icons, the top one has an arrow pointing up, if you click on that it will take you to those properties. I can't post a screen now but I will a little later.
