Can you set up your camera so a depth of field effect is happening? I was noteing one of the Carrara renderings of a donut and a cup of coffie that had a nice change of focus as the objects recieded.

Yes. Activate 'camera', click the 'Effects' tab. DOF is in there... (I am talking C3 here). Otherwise, the method I prefer, is to render as a .psd file and let Carrara render a 'Distance' channel. You can use that in postprocessing to make a DOF effect. You will have more control that way, and you have to possiblity to first clean up your render and then blur some stuff.

DOF is good for small renders, it gives up on the big stuff though! Hoofcommissaris do you know of any tutorials for postprocess of blur effect? I have known you can use the distance channel etc. Just never quite knew how to apply it, I'm not very aquainted with all the ins & outs of Photoshop. Any help appreciated!! Regards Rokol.

I'm writing a tutorial on this for 3DXtract at this very moment. Hopefully it will get published in a future issue.
