Does anyone know what is causing this stretchmark effect when I render? It's totally random- sometimes it happens, sometimes not.

It would help if you mention which version of Poser and if Poser 5 then a screen shot of your render settings.

oh yeah!-P5 - but the render settings dont seem to matter as I've tried different and it still happens off and on w/ any setting, although it seems too be reduced if the render quality is also reduced, but thats not what I want. the quality/image size is the same as i've always used w/out problem, generally shadows off, tex filter on,smmoth poly, filter size 0.02, and max tex size 4000. Also, it's not the tex either have tried lots.

This happens to me also all the time and I dont know what it is. I am using P5 sr4 with v3 model. I think smoothing polygons may have something to do with it but I am not sure.

I found the answer over at PP- you neeed to switch off texture filtering in the render settings- the only thing is then your hair may not turn out- so you could do two renders - one w/hair & one w/out-yay!!

Or you can just reduce the default Minimum Shading Rate (pixels area)in the Firefly settings menu with texture filtering off. A setting of 0.3 or lower whould render just about any hair texture nicely, but you will sacrifice rendertime a bit depending on your CPU. However it should still render faster than rendering two of the same image.
