Subject: need help: look for a list of previous BATLAB freebies

Riddokun ( ) posted Tue, 08 June 2004 at 6:34 PM · edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 2:48 AM

aside from now the ritual monthly limited freebie, once upon a time, batlab also had a freebie section that he, to my greatest sadness, closed. i would really have a written history/report list of what he did offered in the past, either in this long ago free section, or any previous monthly limited freebie. thanx a lot

That could take a while.

Pakled, if on this list (I didnt D/L) you see the Killy suit or any of the Kawa or Fetish stuff, then it's BAT's old site. If I recall, he had a TON of cool practical props as well.

I belive his site has always been called BAT Laboratory, but I could be wrong... He really did have some awesome freebies though!

SpiceBunny ( ) posted Tue, 08 June 2004 at 9:27 PM

it is still called BAT Laboratory. :)

Yes, this would be quite a task, unless one was in the habit of filing zips neatly according to where they came from. There were actually TWO previous Batlab sites. There was the one referred to above, which everyone was very sorry when it closed. But there was an earlier one as well, which shut down about six months before the second one opened. This site was never so well known. A number of things on the earlier site never appeared again. I may be able to trace which they were, even though my download archive is chaotic, as they were distributed as lzh files rather than zips.

And he has a new outfit out! Marque

Riddokun ( ) posted Wed, 09 June 2004 at 6:43 AM

hmm that did not answer the question :) though even without labbeliong zips from their origin place, i can guess that BAT work can be easily spotted by eye, ney ? i mean it is hard to mistake any BAT product/item (free or not) with someone else's :) i ask this because he used to give away for free very cool suits and things for V2 and i would at least have a list/history of what was once free (if it now went to rmp maybe, or begone forever)

it is a good start, thanx... i assume most of those stuff were for v2, right ? i assume also that it can't be found anymore (would have guessed it :) but at least with the names i have a starting knowledge base

Kalypso ( ) posted Wed, 09 June 2004 at 9:28 AM
Site Admin

The early stuff was for P4 fem which I've been using on my AnimeDoll/P4 Hybrid. Then, a lot of it was made for V1/2.

Phantast ( ) posted Wed, 09 June 2004 at 10:02 AM

Anything with a filename with a V near the end is for V1/2; everything else is either for P4W or is not a clothing item.

pakled ( ) posted Wed, 09 June 2004 at 12:33 PM

hmm..didn't see it, but I don't normally download fetish stuff..not if I want the missus to continue to let me use the PC..;) I'll check tonight..I can search on the URL, and see what I called it..;) more to come..;)

correct me if i 'm wrong but aren't some of those listed items now available only in RMP ? (or are they non v2 versions of them ) ?

Fashionably_Late ( ) posted Wed, 09 June 2004 at 7:09 PM

If I'm not mistaken, all of the items in the MP have been greatly improved since the original freebie versions... and updated to fit V3, some V2 or Mayadoll. When he first started selling in the RMP he posted somewhere about it, I can't seem to find it right now. I wish I would have found his old site earlier, I only grabbed the last couple freebies before he closed it. :(

Riddokun ( ) posted Wed, 09 June 2004 at 7:27 PM

well i would gladly satisfy myself with the older unimproved versions anyway :) there was a few dress/gears that were really awesomes :) especially speaking that everything now is for v3 and i barely managed since 2 days ago to gather enough money to buy myself a DECENT base poser character couple (mike2 and vicky2) thanx to the fact they were for long time the "norm" and plenty freestuff available (and cheap thanx to the miracle -35% off till the very day i could validate my cart.. was close ! :) a decent v3 would cost me more money than my poser (p4...) i think i come to poser, and to 2nd daz generation 2 years too late to ever benefit from them At least it is better than Dork and Posette (especially because i instantly turn v2 into tenten... !), but well, in 2004 it is hard to get back most of the cool freestuff i saw running front of my eyes beyond my reach since 2 years ago :) (sorry no flame, but without a minimum of addon packs, what are you supposed to do with the very basic v3 , no bundle, given her price ?). DAZ recent products are definitly not for low-income hobbyists, but for professionnals and rmp/other site merchants :)

Phantast ( ) posted Thu, 10 June 2004 at 5:04 AM

Those old ones are all for P4W, and, yes, some (but not all) of them were later upgraded and done for Vicky. I think you will find that DAZ products are very favourably priced compared to the stuff that's really aimed at the professional market. However, cheap/dear is relative depending on the state of your wallet, I appreciate that.

Riddokun ( ) posted Thu, 10 June 2004 at 5:37 AM

well then i don't even dare to imagine what are the prices found commonly on the "professionnal market" :); well i just said that, for an average hobbyist, DAzproducts (well mostly the new unimesh gneration) were quite a price to think about before even considering them :) i refer to the base price of the software it is aimed for (poser :) no offense to people who like DAZ.. glad some of you can benefit/enjoy their products :) what is the P4W ? i mean i am unfamiliar wih this abbreviation.I knew P4F, posette, but P4W ...

LadyTieryn ( ) posted Thu, 10 June 2004 at 8:16 AM

There are also some freebies of his at PoserNightmare http://mad.zombie.jp/dl/index.html like BAT laboratory Presents BAT's Penguin, Geky BAT Design LingerieV@BAT Design LingerieV TOP

Riddokun ( ) posted Thu, 10 June 2004 at 8:57 AM

thx a lot... btw so what was P4W ?

LadyTieryn ( ) posted Thu, 10 June 2004 at 9:02 AM

p4 woman I think. There are also more freebies of his at some of the other sites under his links.

mondoxjake ( ) posted Thu, 10 June 2004 at 2:18 PM

P4NW aka P4NudeWoman aka Posette are all the same...the basic female nude figure that was supplied with Poser 4 program.

Phantast ( ) posted Fri, 11 June 2004 at 5:38 AM

P4W is a more common abbreviation than P4F. As for prices, have a look at www.turbosquid.com. A character looking remarkably like Posette sells for $199.

semidieu ( ) posted Fri, 11 June 2004 at 12:56 PM

Just wanted to know... Does it exist a mannikin to convert P4W to V3 using the tailor ?

Riddokun ( ) posted Sat, 12 June 2004 at 5:14 AM

well to digress a bit from the topic, another question: about previous/older V2-related RMP stuff of batlab ? when can i buy them ? I mean if i visit his store all i see now is V3, V3,V3 ; only got V3 in mouth nowadays, all people :) but i saw products in his store that i know had existed for v2 (the cleric suit that is marvellous, and the witch suit, that i bought for Mayadoll and which, of course, is useless for me in its v3 version as i do not have v3, only v2) when i asked about this directlyt to Batlab by IM, well the reply was kinda strange, i don't know how i am supposed to understand/take it because i am not skilled enough in english langage to sense sarcasm, threat or anger... (would there be any...) i may understand wrong but it seems "a crime" to even dare to mention V2 nowadays to merchants...
