There will be a set of P5 shaders and 3 extra textures that will be coming available over the next few weeks. So, keep an eye out. Also, Les is working on a magnet set to make it easier to conform Behemoth clothes to the werewolf. Some freebie poses are on the way also in the coming weeks.

This is one of those "is this thing on?" moments for me... wow.... see, 'bekah lacks that filter most of have. You know the one, the "yes, I should say this... no, I shouldn't say that" filter. The one that keeps our significant others from turning all red in the face like I was when I saw her post. Don't I just feel like such a prude. :) -Les

He, Les.. with all the characters your getting out of the Behemoth, he;s getting quite versitile. And all from the same original mesh... So you almost have a Sixus UNI-MESH.... LOL!!! ;) (Just WAY TOO easy! ;)

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

sixus1 ( ) posted Sat, 12 June 2004 at 9:55 AM

I was wondering how long it would be before someone made that comment. Here's the deal... I don't use Daz products. Not going to happen. Period. My problem with the whole Uni-mesh concept is not a problem with creating multiple characters/products from/for one or two base meshes, but rather the idea that ALL things can be created from such base mesh which is the gist of thier marketing, at least to me. Many people have bought into that concept and that is the customers perogative. Daz has made a lot of money from it, and I congratulate them on a very slick business tactic. It's good business to be able to reuse the same product over and over without changes to it the way they have; it's efficient for them and lot of people have been convinced of the quality in it by the "if the base is good, the other stuff is good too" theory. Once again, a matter of personal preference whether you buy into that or not, but certainly a marketing coup. In comparison, to Daz, We are not reusing the same base mesh over and over. We've had a LOT of requests for add ons for Behemoth. Behemoth has now been downloaded a confirmed minimum of 5000 times from our servers, so producing add ons for him is good business. The lycanthrope is something I've wanted to see avaialable in some for a long time, as are many of the other designs I've brought to market now using Behemoth. Now, to say that he is a "Sixus1 Uni-Mesh" might be almost apllicable from the standpoint that we have a growing number of products based around him, but it's not quite accurate. Mayadoll is a great non-Daz figure, with a growing support base and I don't see anyone calling it the MayaX-Uni-Mesh. To refer to any of our figures as a Uni-mesh is, to me, to imply that we aren't modeling original work any longer and that is so damn far from the truth I could scream. Our store at Sixus1.com has, currently, a stable of 59 items in it, that vast majority of which are either original figures/creatures or products supporting them. Lumping us in with the Uni-mesh concept would cheapen the work that's went into that catalog of original meshes by inferring that they somehow our work is based on one mesh or that it will become so in the future. If i seem a little edgy about what I see this as assuming, well you're right. I may run a business but the business is there to allow me and a very small group of artists an avenue to release what we feel are the kinds of things we would want to see available for ourselves, and to develop and market that content in whatever way we see fit. We enjoy the process of creating. We enjoy building NEW meshes. And if the public happens to latch onto one of our figures the way a growing number of people have with Behemoth, then there's nothing wrong with providing them with more products supporting it and expanding what they can do with it. Behemoth is not the Freak; he's a completely original mesh, with it's own style, not based off anything other than what I thought would be cool for myself and others to use. Not knowing you in person, i don't know the tone your comment was intended for, but if you meant to aggravate the crap out of me, you've just about done it. While Sixus1 Media and Daz are both companies selling products for Poser users right now, I feel that we cater to a very different mindset than that which has given thier Unimesh figures such wide useage. I don't mind that our original figures have a decidedly smaller place in the market. What I do care about, however, is that we have shown that there is a place in the market for alternatives to the "standard", and that the people who have taken the opportunity to explore said alternatives have given us what I see as a resoundly positive response. We provide virtually 24-7 support through our site for all our products, free and commercial alike. We maintain a very open dialogue with our customers on our forums. Sales through our site continue to grow. If you look at the membership number at the bottom of our forum index you might wonder why it hasn't grown in a while: well, we stopped requiring membership for our freebies. So while the number there doesn't increase exponentially (since we decided bribing people to join with free stuff was just not our style) those who do join tend to be more active and interested in thier interaction with us and the other people on the site. I guess what it boils down to, and what has me so riled at your comment, is that we are not Daz. We never will be Daz, and there isn't enough money in this or any other market to make us want to be. They have a very different attitude, angle, business model... whatever you want to call it, than we do, and inferring that we're somehow adopting the same methodology that they have used, and one that I don't really agree with, especially at the level to which they've taken it, really sets my blood boiling. FYI: I guess it's just the "LOL!!!!" and the "(Just way too easy!)" parts of your post that make it seem rather snide and confrontational. Do you have some problem with me personally or something? Because a jab like that is just uncalled for given that you were active on our forums long enough to know how much it would piss me off. -Les

Hi all :) I just found this and felt the need to weigh in. I am in associate artist with Sixus1 Media, and Im proud as punch to be one. But I can honestly say that I dont understand Garee's point... I dont see how Behemoth is a Uni-Mesh by his descritpion. I look in the Sixus1 store and I see alot of clothing add ons, and CHARACTER paks. Which technically this is. The way I see it this new pak for Behemoth is no different than you Garee morphing the living hell out of The Heavies. But you wouldnt call The Heavies a uni-mesh now would ya? These are all ADD ON's for Behemoth, that doesnt make him a uni-mesh. It makes him a popular guy for ADD ON's. Just because Mike, Vicky, and Steph have over a million ADD ON's doesn't make them a Uni-Mesh. What makes them a uni-mesh is how they were originally made. Ok I've spoke me piece and feel better now ;) Thanks for listening to the mad ramblings of a woman who just rolled outta bed lol. CheeriO! Gina

I'm sure that Gareee is only joking, and didn't mean to poke at a sore spot. If he would have known, I don't think he would have said it. I'm sure everyone has said something in jest, not knowing it could be interpreted as something other than a joke.

Yea, I thought he was kidding too? I guess it fell flat. I have certainly been there. Tony

Ah, I tried to post a lengthy reply, but rendo dumped it. No ill will or intent was forwarded at all. I thought was was just ribbing someone I thought was a freind, and never expected a huge tirade against me or daz developement. Anyone who's followed any of my posts, will notice I'm always sending people to Sixus for stuff. I was quite concerned when they were dumping out of the poser community, even though I wasn't vocal. Nothing I could say would change their opinions anyway. I've rendered pics JUST to spread word about sixus stuff, and never asked for anything in return. I found some issues with a product I purchased, and didn't scream bloody murder, but privately IM'd Les and Rebekah, and even spent a good amount of time finding the solution to one of the problems I found. (the other problem has never been addressed). I think it's GREAT what Sixus has been doing for the poser community, and couldn't commend them any higher if I wanted to. Thie action speak volumes. BUT.. this is now the second time I've been lambasted for something by you, Les, and for no real good reason. I got that whole tirade from you for 2 or three lousy sentances, intended to create a little chuckle. I know you have a hard on for Daz, and hate them vehemantly, but you really need to let that go, Pal. The poser communities should be working together, to forward poser tech, and promote it's use, NOT quibbling over all sorts of petty issues. There's no one I hate, and no one I'm trying to dis or hold back. Just because I chose to do some things for Daz doesn't mean you should hate me either, Les. They've always been square with me, and when I've ever had a problem, thay've always done right by me. More then I can say for you, right now. You always talk the talk, but in my case, haven't walked the walk. I did two morphs sets, one for the Minotaur II, and one for the Gryphon. I've Im'd and emailed Sixus a few times now, over the course of 5 months, and not gotten one real reply. I felt thier "home" should be with Sixus, to support, and also promote those characters, and they were done because I liked the characters, and wanted to give them more diversity, and thus make them more popular. I'm still sitting on them here, since Jan. I'm sorry I'm on your shit list, Les, because I've never tried to be, I've always been supportive of your products, and always tried to send more business your way. I don't believe in poser politics. To everyone else in the thread.. sorry for turning this into a cesspool of more poser politics, when it should be an announcement of a wonderful new great valued Sixus creation, but since Les felt the need for a very lengthy reply, I felt the need to let everyone really know where I stand, and have stood.

erm Garee.. this is the insulting part - "So you almost have a Sixus UNI-MESH.... LOL!!! ;) (Just WAY TOO easy! ;)" I've read your reply..nothing of which excuses that insulting tone and I think you should apologise for that above. However you read those lines, it's insulting. 'Nuff said.

Ok, Khai.. I apologize that both Les and YOU took it the wrong way. Feel better now? Re-read my previous post about this, K? Way too much negative energy being invested in this from all parties involved.

I wanted to mention the morphs for the Minotaur and the Gryphon...you caught me at a REALLY bad time then...I was super super busy and in the middle of moving....I don't even remember morphs for the Gryphon. Sorry. --Rebekah--

Look, i said that there's the possiblity that I could have been taking what you said wrong. But my feelings about the way it came off to me were strong enough that I felt that I should say what I felt. Now, if I misconstrued what you said, then I wholeheartedly apologize. One thing I'm a little bothered with, though is how your reply is lumping us in with Poser politics. I really have no hate for Daz; I just recognize that they have different methods and approaches to many things than what we do. I brokered there once too, you know. I left because I didn't feel comfortable with thier policies toward brokers and I felt that I could bring more to the Poser market by striking out on my own. I am very satisfied with where that has gone. To say that I have a "hard on" for Daz is way off. I have "hard on" to do well with my business and keep producing the figures and artowrk that I enjoy. To try and polarize this into a Sixus1 vs. Daz commentary is exactly what I felt your first comment was doing and was what irked me to begin with. I don't want polarization with Daz, just the realization that we are different, offer different things in different ways, and as such a comparison is a disservice to both Daz and Sixus1 Media. As far as being on my shit list, you're not. I really don't have anything against you, I just felt as though the angle from which I took your comment needed to be addressed. Considering that you do support Daz and apparently have a solid relationship there, perhaps I should consider your initial comment a compliment, though for me personally it's a little weird.

I've been playing around with various "wolfie" models and so far I like this one the best of the group. Part of my problem is that most of the characters in the stories I'm doing with my fifteen year old daughter (turns sixteen this month) are mid to late teens -- which makes the choice of characters rather limited. But I'm very pleased with what I've been able to do with the BEH product line (you know, you ought to package them so they install in a "Behemoth Line" folder -- that would keep the runtime more organized. I've done that myself on my directories, though you know I think that the doughboy powered space marine armor and the new Lycanthrope belong together -- and I want an undead "Lychanthrope" morp too). Sorry the "uni-mesh" joke irritated you so. And sorry you had such a bad experience as a DAZ broker. But given your prior posts, the comment: "So you almost have a Sixus UNI-MESH.... LOL!!! ;) (Just WAY TOO easy! ;)" really seemed like a cute joke/tweak, playing off your prior posts. I'm glad I didn't do it, I really would not want to offend you, and everyone knows that you aren't going to make Behemoth the base mesh for everything you do for the future (which is why I've decided I probably won't see "smiling bish behemoth" anytime soon and told my daughter it looks like M3 is the only solution for her bishonen look needs). Anyway, back on track, I'm seeing the new lycanthrope (no "lych" right now) in a lot of renders, for a brand new product. For the price, it is really impressive. Now, back to the shower (just finished up at the gym and reinstalling my daughter's software -- that four year old can crash a computer like no one else). Don't know about you, but I don't want anyone thinking I'm as rank smelling as a were creature. Best, Stephen (Ethesis/Elaikases)

Cool, Les. I accidently stumbled across some of the off topic forums in a few poser related places of late, and was just amazed at how disapointed I was in some of the poser artist community. People that I had come to respect, and value opinions from were trash talking like there was no tomorrow. I guess your comments just felt like that all over again. I stopped posting and participating near as much, when I saw those other discussions. Seeing more "trash talking" about Daz direction n such just reminded me way too much of the same thing I had read of late, and to be honest, that negativity just really disgusts me. I DO howeer appreciate your candor, and sticking to your guns no matter what. I'm really sorry to have taken a dump in your weekend, Les and again, apologize to everyone in this forum again, for turning this from a great announcement, into yet another disagreement/miunderstanding thing. As far as the comparison, though, everyone compares all poser artists and stores with each other.. if not vocally, then in their own minds, and I don't think that's a disservice at all. Once people visit each e store, and the various forums, I think they get a feel for the area and values, and thye just stop shopping, and participating in places they become disillusioned of. I guess it's the Ying/Yang thing about poser.. Kind of like the P4/P5 constant comparisons. I should work more, and visit the forums less...
