Hi all. This is a problem that has me at a loss. The attached picture shows the problem and the attached link will take you to another thread that discusses possible solutions. Any help or insight would be welcomed and appreciated. Thanks Tom

This is my best guess. Fire up Poser 5 then close out the Python window. Now go to Edit/Preferences and reset your preferred states. I'm thinking that the Python window is being loaded from there.

By the way, you don`t have to reboot when you install or reinstall ANY program unless the program asks you to.

Thanks Phil. (Nice to see you again) Yeah...that was one of the first things I tried to do was play with the preferences but it didn't fix it. The link above shows all that I've tried to do to fix it. I thought, rather than go through it all over here,I'd just link to it. Essentially I've re-installed Poser 5 about 4 times trying to fix it. I had thought that when I first tried to installing it,I had my anti virus and firewall software enable. So I disabled that and re-installed it again. Still had the same problem. Then, I thought it might be because I was on a network, so I disconnected from the network and tried again. That didn't work either. Of all of the problems I've seen with Poser 5 (since it's release)I've never seen any reference to this particular problem. Evidently ,nobody else has either. I thought since I was unable to find a solution at our site, I'd try here, Thanks again Tom

Hi Xantor, Poser 5 does ask to reboot when installing it originally. It does not require it after installing the figure updater or the patch though. I just do it out of habit I suppose. This brings another point though. In order to get around the anti-piracy thing that comes with the original installation (un-patched), that was causing folks so much trouble in the beginning,I had heard it was best to "NOT" launch the program until after the figure updater and patch(s) were installed. I did it that way every time. I can say that I have successfully installed Poser 5 last year when I first got it,without this problem. Since then (in September),I reformatted and thins only happened after that. Weird. Thanks again Tom

Uhhh....so what? Is it interferin' w/ anything by being open? If it isn't, then big deal. If it were doing this on yr main monitor, I could see where it could get annoying, but while it's on yr 2nd, I don' see why ya can't just ignore it. Thas my 2 cents, anyway.

WARNING!

You dont want a window open all the time, when it doesnt have to be, especially in poser 5 when the screen can end up a mess anyway.

Uhhh FreeBass

"NOTHING" can be done until the dialog is moved and closed.

Maybe unstable and problematic software is acceptable to you,but not me.

Afte 4 major patches (3 of which was in the first year) and it still has problems...that is not a stable product. You may have not been around when Poser 5 was first released. And you would be lucky to have missed that mess.

Thanks again all for your help.
