I went to the free stuff section here at renderosity today and was fairly disappointed. I was looking for something in particular and found several site links that looked like they'd have what I wanted. The first one took me to a wonderfully put together site and then I noticed that everything cost either 1.99 Euro or 5.00 Euro. Thought it was free. Hmm. The second site took me to a nice site. Said free stuff at the top of the page. It appeared that if you clicked on the picture that it would download. Clicked on picture and ended up at Renderosity Marketplace where I could buy the item for $5.00. I thought Free Stuff was where you went to download Free Stuff. Will be more careful next time. Yeah, not to mention all the "dead" links to older products that the contributor removed, but the links still remain. They need to clean up the free stuff area a bit. :-) But in fairness, we should report those links to Rosity admins so they are aware.

Be sure to report those links to the admin, I think it's Clint that coordinates the free stuff section. He's very good about getting to the bottom of those things.

How do you do that? I ran into a lot of dead ones but they irritated me very little. It's just wrong to tell people there is free stuff and then you end up somewhere that shows the very item that was pictured in Free Stuff and it says PAY.

If it's not him I'm sure he'll forward it to the proper person or someone else will respond in this thread with proper person to notify. I thought there used to be a link on the Free Stuff page but I must have been mistaken.

actually, I thought that if your link wasn't to free stuff, it'd be yanked (or there was something to that effect). There is so much free stuff out there that I've filled (tada..an hour ago) 93 CD's with it (the count passed 15,000, at last..;). You'd be amazed at what's out there..
I do know from experience that some Poser sites have the half-life of some of the Transuranic elements..;) lots of good sites as well..check with Trekkiegrrrl (or Ernyoka1), she has a very large list of sites (wayul..I hepped..;), or just ask for what you're looking for, and a large dragon will no doubt land and tell you where to find it..there are exits to the east and north, so I must go..;)

Ah, Traal...where the heady vapors make us all wish for a drink that is much like, but not exactly like, having our brain smashed out with a gold brick that has a slice of lemon wrapped around it... Grue(some) things happen on the way to the Hidden Empire, but we should take heart (someone elses, please)that Renderosity exists at all! I mean, really, where else can you find this kind of free content to feed a growing addiction?

Some people put up "temporary" free stuff. It's free for a month, then it goes into their store, and a different free item takes its place. And they don't bother to remove the old items from Free Stuff.
