Good Idea. When I was a kid the "Creature From The Black Lagoon" scared the hell out of me. Circa 1954 I think. The other scary 50's character we need is "The Man With The White Eyes". He looked like Indiana Jones but had no pupils or iris- a simple cinematic lab effect then, but also very scary for a small kid. The guy wore dark glasses, and when he took them "slowly" off, GASP! NO EYES!!! Just white eye-balls. We need him in the Poser Characters Community.
Fox, as long as we're on the subject, how about "X- The Man With The X-Ray Eyes", where Ray Miland takes off his dark glasses and his eyes are completely black, that one got me spooked almost as much as "The Fly". When you're only five years old that happens quite easily. The fly would be another great character to build. Hope somebody will do it,for, alas, I am but a lowly airbrush artist.
Yes Koz, you have to be old-timers like us to know that there were some really great movie and sci-fi movies made in the 1950's. Since TV had little impact then, these movies of scary characters became burned in your little kid brain and made it impossible for me to go down a dark hallway in our home without turning on all the lights first. I remember even having to reach in really quickly to turn on the bedroom light first- but of course, the movie character-creature could still be hiding UNDER THE BED!!!
I never actually saw the creature when I was little because I always covered my eyes. Does anyone remember the name of the movie with the aliens that looked like cabbage heads or brussel sprouts and needles shot out of their fingers and they stuck you full of alcohol? I found an image of them I had but I don't have the name of the movie. Thanks for the memories. Jade
I think that was "Invasion of the Saucer Men" or something like that I remember it as one of the first times they tried for intentional humor and it worked. By the way Frank Gorshin was in it (remember him)? You can decide whether I may be dating myself, or I'm a real fan of horror and sci-fi films, some of which go back to the silent era. Or a bit of both.;0)
The name of the movie I believe you're thinking of, Jade, is "The Invasion of the Saucer Men", one of my favorite cheezy drive-in flicks. The scariest thing about this is that I can remember all this goofy childhood movie stuff, but for the life of me I can't remember to do things like pay my internet bill on time!:)
By the way- if you are an old movie fan like I am (or actually any movie up to at least 1999,) check out WWW.Allmovie.com. It is a terrific on-line reference. I use it all the time, and you can search by Movie, Actor, or key-words. I almost always find what I am looking for, no matter how off-the-wall the movie might have been. They seem to have them all.
That's it! Frank Gorshin. I knew there was someone 'famous' in it, but I couldn't for the life of me remember his name. I love those old movies. Remember Chiller Theater? The hand coming out of the ground used to scare the pants off of me. Between my father and my brothers we watched all those old movies, and I'm sorry but those movies with their cheesy effects were scarier than the ones today where they spell everything out for you. Thanks for the URL Fox, can't wait to check it out. Jade

This dog of a movie has been released under about eight names - and was featured prominently in one episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000...
Heh. I was kind of mistaken... Invasion of the Saucermen was the original film, remade (verbatim) by infamous B-director Larry Buchanan. Wild Films: Larry Buchanan - The Eye Creatures and Curse of the Swamp Creature

hey all, does anybody out there know where to find the "gill man" figure from the old monster movie "creature from the black lagoon." If not, is anybody interested in creating one? I think it would be a great prop for underwater scenes and general mayhem! -thanx,MK
