Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 30 8:14 pm)
I've been a Bryce 5 user for quite a while, until I purchased P5 and wanted to import P5 figures with dynamic hair and dynamic clothes into B5. There wasn't any way to do it. I looked at Vue 4 Esprit too, but that one couldn't do it either until they recently released Mover 5. So i purchased Vue 4 Esprit (not pro) + Mover 5. Sure it's much more pricy then Bryce 5, it cost me almost 300 euros, but it's worth it. I do find the whole application much easier to use and the results are stunning. It import P5 figures without a problem (just make sure you convert any .png texture to .tiff or so, Vue4 doesn't read .png files yet) and thr rendering in Vue4 is so much better then Bryce 5. Imho Bryce is a toy compared to Vue 4. I've noticed DAZ is working on importing poser content though a plugin called Turbo Import for Bryce 5. But you still need DAZ Studio too. No direct link between Poser and Bryce, you need to go through DAZ Studio. I wanted to try the thing but I've got the same problem as you do, Daz studio would not run on my system, it crashed time after time. A new system is not in my immediate future, I've just got one. I'll stick with Poser 5 + Vue 4 & Mover 5 (mover 5 isn't a seperate application, but it upgrades Vue 4 to Vue 4 Mover), seemless integration, no hassle. Bryce + DAZ Studio + Poser 5 + Turbo Import for Bryce 5 seems like trouble to me. Besides that it isn't real Poser 5 import anyway, you'll open your P5 figures in DAZ Studio and export them out of it and import that content into Bryce 5. I'm not even sure if dynamic hair + clothing is supported at all. Couln't test it due to the many crashes. Just a quote from DAZ: "Simply load Poser content into DAZ|Studio, export out of DAZ|Studio, then load Bryce 5 and import your recently exported content." It wasn't simple, need of an extra application, Bryce 5 is outdated, even the Poser 5 does a better Job in rendering then Bryce 5 does. Besides that all of the stuff needed from DAZ is still in beta, don't want to rely on betas for production (DAZ Studio and Turbo Import ore both still in beta). Quote from E-On Software: "Thanks to Vue and Mover 5, your Curious Labs' Poser characters can experience the joys of high quality rendering and truly realistic natural 3D environments!" Correct statement, it was even beyond my expectations. Perhaps a future version of Bryce may change the whole story, but as long as there's no true direct link between Poser & Bryce I'm not even considering buying it.
Artwork and 3DToons items, create the perfect place for you toon and other figures!

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(
Food for thought.....

I have Bryce and Vue. I like them both. If you are just purchasing Bryce, the cost thru daz is $59, platinum club members $41. I have Studio installed and using the plugin it imported the object fully textured into Bryce with no fuss. It also imported the object in Vue, just had to tweak the eyes a bit, and it imported fine into Carrera. Some things I prefer to do in Vue, and others in Bryce. The cost is not prohibitive for Bryce, $59 > Vue $300. It depends on what you want to do. They are both excellent programs.
and since ure still playing with the idea of which app to buy you might wanna take a look @ carrara 3 aswell since it nowadays has its own mover like app for poser characters called transposer, although vue is of course a better app if youre looking for a dedicated scenery app, but c3 has alot of other strong areas that vue miss, and the pricetag is roughly the same. but as far as bryce and vue gues my vote would have to go for vue, but as wabe said, best thing to do is download the demo and find out for yourself.
I own Bryce and Vue. Bryce have no future and Daz have long way to catch up algorithms what I may require for my projects. Vue have realistic wind effect and clutter replacement for trees/plants. Mover5 for Poser in Vue is awesome. Terrain and shaders in Vue is way more advanced than Bryce. I have been Bryce user for few years and I gave up on it for Vue. Vue is inhtergated with end softwares. Bryce? nope
I've been using Bryce for a long time and now recently moved over to Vue. I don't know what landscape possibilities voe pro has but I have to correcte Waldo on the advancement of terrains. Every time I want to produce a realistic terrain in vue then I MAKE it in Bryce and export it into Vue. The render engine is better in Vue but Vue seems to have big problems with complex Boolean operations of imported models. So... There's a lot to say for Vue.. but for Bryce as well
I own Bryce and Vue also. Bryce does have a future. Which is best? It's all in what works best for the user. (Bryce for me) Try the Vue demo! Perhaps DAZ will bring back the Bryce demo, lol. (which has been absent for a long time) DAZ has contacted Curious Labs over what needs to be done with Poser's .mtl files (for .obj's), so that they will import into Bryce as correctly as the current Turbo plugin with Studio does now. It's all in the .mtl info. Bryce 6 will most likely have direct Poser/Daz Studio scene import. AgentSmith

I have recently purchased Poser5 after finding the beta of Daz studio would not run on my system. I have a copy of Terragen, and while it looks promising is not really what I want. I am after a package that will produce nice looking landscapes. Both wide view and small scale for Poser backgrounds. Last time I priced Bryce I was living overseas and it was like $300. Now that Daz has it for under $70 do I buy it or look at Vue. My concern is that Daz has not convinced me that Poser support is going to exist in the future. Is it going to be Daz and Bryce against Poser and Vue. ? any comments welcome. p.s a new system is in my immediate future.
