Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 26 2:05 pm)
I don't think so. You'll have to move the whole Runtime - and that is only if you have Poser 5.

Princess, the things that are actually taking up all your space are likely your texture directory and your geometries directory. Plus whatever zip archives you store of the millions of things people like you and I get from freestuff. Now, I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it should be possible to move your geometry and texture directories to a new partition, provided you copy poser's entire directory structure down to those directories, and then, and this is the important part, edit the geometry and texture calls of each of your installed CR2 files. You may be able to put in absolute paths for the various calls to the geometries and textures, as opposed to relative paths that are used now. This would take care of a large bulk of filespace, I think. Perhaps someone else has a better idea. Jack
Yeah in theory you could move textures and geometries. But it would be a royal PITA to hand-edit all files to point at their new "home" If you're planning to use Poser, you might as well get a bigger HD sooner than later. You'll need it :) I have a 40Gb disk for my Poser alone to reside on. 3/4 of it is filled by now :o) - and that's NOT counting my Poser 5. But I do install everything into my old crowded PPP-runtime and link to if from my Poser 5. That way it's accessible from both Poser 5 and Pro Pack, should I ever need that.

If you have/get Correct Reference Pro, you can move anything where ever you want and make shortcuts to your runtime too. After the move, use CR Pro to find 'em and make absolute references. Even if you don't want to go that route CR Pro would save you the hand editing mentioned above.

I'm a little more paranoid than geoegress.
I would COPY and Paste the whole thing; verify that the new "installation" works correctly on several different items.
Then, and only then, would I CUT (or Delete) the original folder.
But, then, I go for weeks on Windows 2K (at work) and nearly a month on Mac OS X (at home) without crashing and/or restarting. (Not necessarily bragging; it's just that my "old woman" habits seem to pay off.)
Joke Mode on */ Or you could simply become your handle and tell boyfriend to get his OWN computer. This one is yours :) Joke Mode off */ Er...What everyone else said. For myself I look forward to stealing megabytes from other barely used, but necessary partitions to feed the one Poser is on.

I have quite a few extra files to go with poser and have noticed (thanks to a boyfriend complaining) that they are taking up quite a bit of space on the harddrive. We have our drive partioned and i was wondering..can i move the character, pose and prop libraries to the partioned drive and still somehow pull them into poser?? Thanks
