impressive indeed. could i make just a couple of small nitpicks though? the headlights, the line inside doesn't quite follow that on the outside. other than that, amazing. i couldn't pull something like this off even if i tried.

ardphil ( ) posted Wed, 30 June 2004 at 12:27 PM

would anyone think about buying it when its finished, and what sort of price should i put it up for, thanks for your great suggestions!

Have a look at www.daz3d.com . They have some store items selling for $24.95. I think if you put your model to one of the sites which broker product they could tell you what to charge. You also need to find out if you need any sort of approval if it is an existing car.

ardphil ( ) posted Wed, 30 June 2004 at 12:34 PM

Its not an existing car......this is a concept based around a bruttus 7-xr, this is not the same, it is a concept!

Beautiful car ardphil! Very impressive modeling! I would think that a 3ds file would sell to a wider range of people than a .max file 'cause you can only open a .max file if you own 3DMax. If you are going to sell it for Poser and Bryce users I would make it an .obj file.

ardphil ( ) posted Wed, 30 June 2004 at 12:49 PM

ok thx! 3ds it is!

Amazing model. I dont think drac is right even a Lambo has little im-perfections and mis alighnments this is what gives cars thier individuality. 3ds File for sure. "would you take a cheque?????"8-) Cheers GG.

Whoa that is a sweet car. You put a lot of detail into that. I have a personal rule against using other people's models, but if I didn't this would definetly be on my list. I'm sure your sales will do fine with a model like that.

very nicely done...drac is right though...there are some imperfections with the mesh around the headlights. But a very kool concept car indeed. You could also try selling it at places like turbosquid.com or something. If I could add a suggestion. Where you have the front airdams (on the bumper), they look to be filled in which would be hard for air to flow. I think what would look more realistic would either be to have nothing there or a wire mesh (like the one in the small pic). Other than that, looks fantastic. p.s. could you share some stats? poly count? Spline modelled, box modelled (meshsmoothed), patch modelled or other thechnique?

I'm wondering of those 'imperfections' around the headlights could be the lines for the glass shields....just a thought....

I just figured you would apply a trans map to the grille areas.

Like tjohn said. Most of the time those grilles are done by texturing rather than modeled in the mesh. So it's likely there's a trans-map for those parts that appear solid in this clay-style render. It saves on a lot of polys. (And when I say a lot, I mean A LOT. Especially if it's smoothed. Anyone else ever try modeling the grille mesh besides me?) Looks good, but the body panels around the lights do need vert tweaking. A bit of a pain, but worth it. Right now it looks like somebody cut the openings with a saber-saw. If you plan on selling this, nitpicks like this count.

Here it is, but I only have it as a .max at the min, im might change the colour of the wheels. I cant change it to 3ds as there are to many polgons, im going to decrese the polgons my using polycrusher(when i find out how to use it) then I can change it into a 3ds! I quite like it i hope everyone else does! :D Thanks! Phil

You couldn't drive this on my road. Too many potholes, you would grind the bottom off it, LOL.

Beyond excellent model, Ardphil.

Im not sure its goining to convert to a .3ds file, what I am doing is using polycruncher in 3ds max 6, but it just crashes, I might need a bit of help getting it into 3ds! If anyone helps and I would be very gratefull! Thanks Phil :D
