Can anyone tell me why this mesh is breaking. Is this a weld problem. I've checked the manual but it doesn't really explain the weld parameter so I don't know what the values are supposed to be.

If your left leg is parented to the hip then it can not be parented to the right leg also. It is possible to hack the CR2 file to force it but I've never liked that solution. My preference is to add extra components in the skirt to facilitate the movement. Difficult to explain in a sentance. The skirts on my site have it. From memory I think I also put these controls in the free Jessica dress.

I changed my mind. :) It is a weld thing, but with an ankle length skirt you may have problems if you just add the extra weld statements into the CR2. Ankle length skirts are a problem, period. My preference is to add morphs to accomodate various poses. What version of Poser are you using?

Un huh. lIke Phil and EnglishBob said -- welcome to the Poser Skirt Problem. One thing many people do is omit buttocks. That can at least get you into a knee-length skirt that works. There have been some limited successes in welding siblings (which Poser does not normally allow you to do.) To my mind the best methods work on a "flubber" principle, where the skirt is one large group and poses are applied to it as a group. Morphs (truly the only way to get a decent seating skirt) -- Serge Marck has made good with those. Anton's Reverse Heirachy Affectors. I've been experimenting myself with "Conformal Clothing"; a combination of phantom limbs and body handles controlled by ERC. Or you can just go P5 with it and use dynamic cloth.

Make the entire skirt part of the hip group and use ghost body parts for the right and left thighs. Use morphs (or magnets)for lower part of the skirt to get any bending needed for the right and left shins. This allows the skirt to conform pose to the base figure for most poses. Use the morphs (magnets) for posing the lower portion of the skirt as needed for sitting and kneeling positions.

What figure are you making this for? I can probably send you a cr2 to use with the jp set up for the hip and ghost parts as I use them.
