Subject: Rendering Glass

I have a lab with a number of items of glassware, that are taking a long time to render. Any tips on how to speed things up?

Try opening the render options panel and look on the bottom left. There is an option for maximum ray depth, by default it is set to 6. Try setting it to 4 or 5. The lower the number the faster your glass will render. BUT..the lower the number the darker your glass will look when you see things through it, so you may have to tweak your glass materials; try raising the ambiance level.

What level are you rendering at? Default, Regular, Super, Premium? If you are using Super or Premium, Try reducing the default number of rays per pixel by one level or more. (ie. 64 down to 36 or 16)

Didn't you know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That's why eyedrops and rose-colored glasses are needed.

Solved the problem. Replaced the glassware with a molecular model kit. Much faster now. Thanks for the advice. Mahray
