THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Bryce vs. Vue

Bryce's unbeatable price of only $60 beats Vue at over $400. But given Bryce's shaky past, isn't Vue a more stable choice. I'm trying to decide which software to go with. Anyone know how Bryce and Vue compare. I tried the Vue demo and I wasn't overly impressed. Bandolin

Bryce's future is not shaky, as they have found a new home at Daz, which is dedicated to developing Bryce further. Ask this question in this Forum, and the overwhelming answer will be that Bryce is best. In the Vue forum, the answer will be that Vue is best. If you want to form your own opinion, the real test is results. Go through a few pages in the Bryce gallery. Then go through a few pages in the Vue gallery. Then ask yourself which of the 2 programs yields the type of results you're looking for. Then buy Bryce. (Hey, I'm prejudiced, but fair. :^) ) John

Actually I disagree; they key differences don't appear in the gallery pictures but in the experience you have using the two programs. Vue has an interface that is easier to get into at first than Bryce, but I would say that Bryce's is more pleasant to use when you develop an understanding of how to get the most out of it.

Bryce is better, stop. Ok I'm jocking I use only Bryce and find his interface very nice and original... Bryce future is now more clear. ..remeber they are only tools, the image is created by the author.

On a level each has it's pros and cons, but you've already said it yourself just look at the price.

I'm with Vasquez on this one, I like the Bryce interface. I have had Bryce since B2, and although I got that as a mag cover copy, with no manual, I had no trouble getting into it. Vue on the other hand I tried the demo and couldn't get into it. I'll stick with Bryce.

why not by bryce at 60 bucks then save a little here and there and buy vue. There is nothing saying you can't own both.both have strong points use them to your advantage..meld

"Reinstall Windows" is NOT a troubleshooting step.

It depends what kind of art you want to do. For landscapes, Vue is far better in my opinion. For indoor or close-up work, I think Bryce takes the cake. But for the price of Bryce right now, I'd jump on it.

Take a look in the Vue Forum. It crashes many many times. I think that Vue's programmers took too much energy in anti-pirating copying. And if you don't have the latest video card drivers, you'll have problems with OPENGL.
Take a look at all the 3D software and you won't find any (except Vue) that have problems with the video card.
I'll wait for the next Vue version (cause I relly like what I see in the Vue gallery)and if they changed their mind about piracy, I'm gonna buy it because with Poser, it looks pretty good. I'm a Bryce owner but for landscape, Vue is best.
For now, I'll wait for Daz new Bryce version.

After using the Vue demo and owning Bryce 5..... the conclusion in my corner of the world is ..... BRYCE 5 man.

I owned Vue and use it most of my time. If you are comparing Vue and Bryce. Vue creates more realistic landscapes. Vue Pro has most pre-set and many good features. But one thing, Vue Pro are expensive..with Mover you will probably ends up paying more. Bryce is a good program but there are still many areas to improve for the performance and features. As for the best value..... Terragen will be the best now mindways

I have both plus C4D and Max, I still find myself using Bryce the most during my 'hobby' moments. (I use Max at work for creating images of early designs for products). Terragen is also worth considering as is Artmatic Voyager for the MAC. Personally my favourites are Bryce and Max, but you've got to try these things out and see what works for you. I've tried Maya, Lightwave, Truspace, XSI, and still come back to play with Max and Bryce (ok I'd buy XSI if I could afford the price for the full package)

Thanks for all the replies guys. Although posting this message in the Bryce forum weighted this topic in favour of Bryce. But I was expecting that. I'm a little prejudiced in favour of Bryce because I used it back just before it was sold to Corel. All your opinions were valid especially Phantast's. I've seen incredible artwork created by artists using terrible tools. I on the otherhand, am a mediocre artist who needs great tools. At $60 bucks, I'll try Bryce. How can you lose. Bandolin
