I just had a thought. (Now, now, none of that!) The thing is, one one hand, Renderosity has specific galleries for Bryce, Terragen, Poser, Photography etc. which any can be combined with fractals, while the Fractal gallery encompasses any and all fractal programs. So, if an image includes one of the specific programs that has it's own gallery, it should be posted in the appropriate gallery. If an image is a combination of Terragen and Poser, for example, it should go to the Mixed-Media gallery.

On the other hand, as the Fractal Gallery is a 'specific' gallery, one should consider if the image is a fractal enhanced by another program or if the image is created with another program and enhanced with a fractal.

On another hand, who really cares? I would rather rack my brain over what the heck to name my stupid images.

What is the difference between the mixed medium and 2D galleries? How does one tell where to put something???? If a fractal is enhanced by another program, wouldn't it go here...and what if the fractal was created in another program and enhanced there???? LMAO!!!! I can actually see the problem the fractal "purists" have with the rest of us. Sooooooo, where does the idea of art come in, and can we have a contest for naming all of those images we can't come up with names for??? grins I guess it comes down to, when in doubt ask. Better yet, smile, and give the other guy/gal a break. We all just want to share a bit of what we create and not feel left out in the dark. Miriah

Not wanting to get too involved in all this "what's fractal art?" stuff but this thread brings up a question I've have for a while. What, exactly, IS a "2D image"? I was always under the impression that 2D images are digital scans of actual paint-on-canvas, pencil-on-paper or whatever-drawn on whatever artworks. Is this correct? I've seen a lot of 2D stuff and sometimes I've gotten the impression that some are "hand/mouse-painted" digital works using Photoshop and the like. Rick

What is 'Fractal' art vs. say... 'Bryce' art? My 2cents worth: depends on what the "focus" is of the image is. Example: If one creates an image which the fractal supports an idea (fractal is background in a "stargate" - the focus is on the personnel about to enter the portal), then that image belongs in a different gallery like Bryce or Poser. However, if the fractal IS the 'focus' of the images (look at the monthly challenge - jewels), then those images definately belong in the Fractal gallery. Easy enough, right?
