Subject: Cameras on motion paths

Animoottori ( ) posted Mon, 26 July 2004 at 2:40 PM · edited Tue, 24 December 2024 at 10:49 PM

I have an animation where camera's movement is controlled by motion path.

Bank and align is set on for the amount of 10% and there are a few keyframes which determine where camera should be at each moment. The problem is that the camera banks unexpedtly near the keyframes and then returns back to the original banking after a few frames.

The tweeners are set to bezier and within bezier:
Ease In-Out:0 - 100;
Tighten In-Out:33-67%;

Has anyone got an idea how to get the camera bank smoothly all the way?

I've had a great deal of difficulty with getting smooth motion of cameras in Carrara. One thing I've done is to create a target object (in fact, I think Carrara has a Target Helper Object built in, now, but I just use a sphere that I move around, then make invisible before render). The target object can be moved, and you can keep your camera pointed at the object; you can still effect banking in the camera and such, but it will stay pointed at the object. It's kind of a wonky solution, but it does help to get rid of those wild movements that happen before keyframes. I'm hoping that they're able to make the animation in the next version of Carrara less bizarre. I'd love to be able to use easy-ease and easy-ease-in and easy-ease-out commands for the tweeners like we see in AfterEffects.

Thanks. I'd love to see a graphic display of the changing values that many other 3D-apps have. It would give a better comprehension of the animated value than the little image in the tweener-data window that we have now. -Hannu Kulju

sfdex has the best solution that I've come up with as well. The motion path thingy is a fantastic idea that hasn't come together. -Kix
