Fresh announcement from e-on software on their website. Vue 5 is on its way....

At last! When? How much? Is OpenGL fixed? I like the bit in the press release that talks about "raving awards". The mind boggles.

Cheers,
Mark

Hmmmmmmmmm. I have D'Esprit 4 and upgraded to 4Pro. There's no mention of Pro 5 on the site but I don't want to upgrade D'Esprit then a few months later find there's a Pro upgrade. Do they normally follow fairly quickly??

gillbrooks - that's a difficult question since Vue Pro is the first release of that line of products. I am waiting for the detailed list of features to find out if Vue 5 is only a way to bridge the gap between Vue 4 and Vue Pro, or if it is really a new version.

dlk30341 ( ) posted Mon, 02 August 2004 at 12:36 PM

This ought to be interesting.....I hope the upgrade to V5 will include all improvements that are available in PRO other than animation. I personally have no use for animation...but would like all the other goodies ;).

videodv ( ) posted Mon, 02 August 2004 at 1:32 PM

Um it looks like it might be a long wait for me as I have vue 4 and vue pro, I am not sure where e-on is marketing itself here and where do I put this in my workflow? If there is major improvments in vue 5 then what about my pruchase of vue pro was it worth it! is there more and better to come with pro? How do e-on reconcile the differences between the two progs for those of us with both maybe a word from e-on about this would be good! I shall wait with antisipation and see what developes I think before I pruchase anything else from e-on just to make sure where the commitment is for both programs. videodv.

I am hoping that this version fixes OpenGL. I love Vue 4, but since I went to a different computer, I find I can't really use it because of the opengl problem.

Antycon ( ) posted Mon, 02 August 2004 at 3:19 PM

Great news!!! I'm wondering what they have put in it... At the end they spoke about Vue Product line, so IMO there will be a Pro version number 5... And I think there will be a downgrade to Esprit 5 (from Pro 4), but I think I 'll stay with Pro, it is so much better than Esprit;)

Dave-So ( ) posted Mon, 02 August 2004 at 4:36 PM

Hopefully esprit 5 won't be a letdown after the release of Vur Pro with its pretty rich feature list.

I still use both Vue4 and VuePro so this will prove interesting (and probably confusing). Although I love the features of Pro, I still love the stability of Vue4. Also, I can import more into Vue4 (then save it and use it in Pro later). Not sure where this is going to take me. Hmmmm

What news?i know it will be an update but for what?Vue 4 or vue pro 4?Which news features? So what news...no news.Just waiting for the detail...the real news

Jcleaver ( ) posted Mon, 02 August 2004 at 6:55 PM

Well, it is an update for Vue 4 D'Esprit, not Pro 4 yet. I am looking forward to the list of features and upgrade price as well.

war2 ( ) posted Mon, 02 August 2004 at 6:58 PM

this is realy good news and im realy looking forward to it, and if e.on plays it right the only features in the pro line that wont make it into vue5 dprit is the excessive export features and the rendercow, atleast thats what im hoping for (and some much needed new features) Export and rendercow is the real "pro" features and isnt needed for out of office stuff or smaller design firms, every other feature in vue4 pro is stuff that realy should be included in their dprit lineup aswell + a bunch of improvements aswell which i think both pro and dprit is in dire need of. Of course any improvement to dprit is welcome, but i seriously hope they dont aim to low and give vue5 dprit a tuned down solidgrowth engine for one example. in my eyes the pro product line should get new features earlier (ie what will show up in vue6 dprit should be slated for vue5 pro) and always provide more export and rendercow options that wont be included in the dprit lineup, pretty much everything else should be included in both as long as the price difference isnt bigger then it is. but well know for sure in a while which way e.on has taken :)

wrpspeed ( ) posted Mon, 02 August 2004 at 7:41 PM

hopefully it will import poser 5 easier

tesign ( ) posted Mon, 02 August 2004 at 7:49 PM

Wish it was beta tested openly much like DAZ3d doing with their Saz Studio product. We all could have a better feel that way other than what I hurt so much how Vue 4 Pro is doing till date. I've always wanted Vue Pro..not so for animation and rendercow but never get to buy it after so much bad experience by some. Well, Vue 5...may have to be another 'wait see situation' after it is launched.

tradivoro ( ) posted Mon, 02 August 2004 at 8:35 PM

Too bad they don't mention what new features this will have... But all I really want is a plant editor and better water and more tweakability of skies... More functions for textues... I'm sure that the poser people would want better importability features... I hope they get those too...

WOW hope is RADIOSITY enabled !!! :)

war2 ( ) posted Tue, 03 August 2004 at 3:14 AM

yeah global illumination and a few other render improvements/features would for sure be an welcome addition (and quite needed aswell)

SAMS3D ( ) posted Tue, 03 August 2004 at 6:40 AM

hmmmm, well I wonder if this will be better then Vue 4 or Vue 4Pro....I still use both....would love to pop over to just one Vue. Sharen

war2 ( ) posted Tue, 03 August 2004 at 6:52 AM

i to hope it is an improvement over vue4 pro(except for network rendering and export options which can stay "pro"), why else would people want to move to the next "generation" + if vue4 pro has more features then vue5 dprit the gap to vue5 pro which im sure will get released summer/autumn 2005 would get realy huge, but if vue5 turns out to be a disapointment ill just have to jump on the vue4 pro bandwagon aswell and upgrade to vue5 pro later on. anyway well all know in a short while :) i guess were all hoping for a realy nice and big improvement over vue4 and quarter 3 is almost over so it cant be far away :) just realised that vue4 pro has been out for almost an year, time certainly flyes (not to mention vue4 being released 2001)

Djeser ( ) posted Tue, 03 August 2004 at 10:26 AM

Well, all along, E-on has stated that the d'Esprit and Professional product lines are separate, so I don't see Vue d'Esprit 5 as an upgrade to Pro. I see it as a natural progression to Vue d'Esprit 4...and anticipate that a Pro release 5 will come out some time. I use Pro almost exclusively now (even with occasional bugs), and like the features in it (and I'm not an animator). But I keep Vue 4 on my machine for Davy to use when he's here, and I often save objects and atmospheres there to use in Pro. I'm interested to see the new/upgraded features in Vue d'Esprit 5, as well as the upgrade price for current owners of d'Esprit 4.

the regular price for vue 5 dprit is $249 (probably usa only, so eu will as always be alittle more expensive) so the vue4 dprit to vue 5 dprit upgrade shoudnt be to expensive.

I hope you can make instances of objects instead of copies. Is that a good idea? This way you could really cram your scene with 3d objects.

thomllama ( ) posted Tue, 03 August 2004 at 6:50 PM

I just hope they fix OpenGL and make the whole thing more stable (very buggy for me, maybe get rid of that anti-piracy stuff that makes it crash those of us that have paid?) I'd really like to see a tree/plant generator or at least more of them.. very limited But Vue is VERY cool and I love what it can do... can't wait to see what the newest thing does :)

While I agree that they have separated d'esprite and Pro into separate product lines if they release an upgrade for d'esprite that adds new features that Pro doesn't have they create a real issue for anyone who has Pro but upgraded from d'esprite. Do I upgrade d'esprite or wait for the features in Pro? Do I see any reduction in my upgrade price for Pro later for having upgraded d'esprite? Do I want to spend out to upgrade both anyway? Since Pro became stable on my machine I havn't done anything in d'esprite. Does d'esprite become in some ways more professional than Pro? If d'esprite gets global illumination, a better plant editor, a particle system or any one of a hundred extra features I can think of then the Pro version is below the level of d'esprite and I can see many Pro users calling from an upgrade ASAP. I've moved to the Pro line and personally I'd prefer to stick with one line of the two product lines. Hopefully someone in the marketing department at e-on has thought this through and we will see an announcement that clarifies this along with the feature list.

As Impish said they will have to release the Pro version very soon after the d'Esprit because Professional line will lack some Esprit feature. But I think their goal is to release Esprit after Professional, this is more logical. But if this time they had released Professional before Esprit, Esprit user would have been really desesperate to wait again for a new version, since Pro had only wait a year...
