THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Vue 3.1 LE for free

Just in case you don't know, this month in Computer Arts magazine they're giving away the full version of the above stated program. The only limitation is the render size which is 1024x 7??. But with the mag discount to can buy the complete unrestricted program for 19.99, so I did. I'm not going to turn into a Vue'r but I thought I'd give it a try and I may upgrade to the version 4 pro to try it out with Poser, that's if I like it at all. Anyhoo just thought you'd like to know. 8) Catlin

Do you guys have local stores that you can walk into and buy these magazines that give away these programs? Does anyone know where someone who lives in rural USA would look to find one of these mags? I especially notice you UK people talking about these. Oh and thanks for the heads up Catlin. Sounds interesting.

Well, I find mine at Barnes and Nobel..but I live near a large city. Only drawback to these mags is they usually run a month behind in the US..I usually see them showing up in my neck of the woods around the 10th or so. If you have major bookstores like that, they're usually in the Computer magazines section..3d World, Computer Art, Digit are 3 of them that offer stuff like this..I've gotten C4d, Poser 3, Amapi 5.15, Carrara, Strata 3d, and a host of others over the last 2 years alone. 1024 isn't a problem for me, I never render anything larger than that anyway..I just hope I don't get stuck like I did with Vue 2, which won't run on Windows 2000 (anyone know if 3 will?)

ROTFL - am I the only one suffering deja vu about the free Vue? Have I gone completely off my trolley, or did we have this conversation a week or so ago? Ang - I always buy mags like this online, it's easier than sitting in traffic jams, paying for parking, and battling into city centre bookstores. Even if you have to pay a bit extra for postage, it saves a lot of wear and tear on the nerves.

Well guess I need to break down and go to Da Mall...

3.1 seems to run fine on XP Pro which is what I've got. I get my mags sent to me every month, there's always something of interest on the cd's that come with the mag, and I arranged the subscription and paid for it online. AS said it takes about 3 weeks to arrive in the stores in the US, but I guess it would be sooner if you were subscribed. Catlin PS, Foleypro I tried to download your magic, sparkly, mats, yesterday and it took me to a page not found. Any chance you could fix the link please. 8)

I love your effects package and have used it in quite a few images, usually the ones where Bryce tells you to go get another life while it does the render. lol 8) Can't wait for the download link 'cos I miss them. I'm going to get and external HD for storage and hopefully, since I'll only use it to retrieve things and not for constant use, it won't crash like the last one. Cheers Foley 8) Catlin

Oh do you mean The ones I Gave out to the Buyers of my 1ST Cloud Package...Which were like 30 or 40 effects...? Or the Free seven Effects I gave away...?

The magazines mentioned also have a sister publication called Computer Projects. These are usually focused on one subject (the last I saw was "animation") and come with a CD of free and demo programs as well.

This is not my "second childhood". I'm not finished with the first one yet.

I think Vue 3.1 contains the upgrade from Vue 3 that allows to run on Win2000. If not I also believe that the upgrade is free from e-on

Ang: The best way is by mail-order. But be warned 3D World is serious stuff. My son gets it regularly and it generally does my head in - uses words about stuff I know nuffink - the freebies are ok but inclined to favour 3dMax etc. The fun thing is that they include Brycer's stuff in the gallery pages now and again....

I believe I heard that eon is pretty close to realeasing a Vue 5. You might want to check around to see if anyone knows when it's due out. I'd hate for you to upgrade to Vue 4 and then Vue 5 comes out. Some companies give customers a free upgrade if they buy a lesser version really close to a release date... but some don't.

catlin_mc ( ) posted Mon, 09 August 2004 at 10:38 AM

Thanks MG I'll go have a look at their site to see if they plan on releasing a new version soon. Foleypro the set I had was the freebies you gave out and if I'd known you had a more advanced set on sale I'd probably have bought them by now. Are you going to upgrade the set you have on sale?, and where are they for sale? Catlin

catlin... You now are a BetaTester for the effects Package... Nope not on sale anywhere yet...Hopefully soon... Would loved to give to DAZ to put in Newer Version of Bryce That way everybody gets them for buying DaBryze... When I will be Releaing it I am not sure for I still have to finish some Props and Fine tune the Path Following and Keep going on The Tuorials...Maybe in a Month or 2 they might be Done...With the "Aveara" Project on Hold I am not so hard Pressed to finish the 5 Gigs of scene's and Models I did for the Project so I will be able to go more heavily on the Effects,Grass,Forest Packages and Finish up my Characters and Levels for a MOD of Unreal Tournament 2004...But First comes Bryce then I releave Stress by working on My Characters...

Excellent!!! Thank you Foley I look forward to testing yur effects. It would be brill if DAZ were to take your effects for use in Bryce 6 'cos they're just so useful, a bit like Clay's fire. 8)

Catlin - Is Vue in the September issue of Computer Arts? My local bookstore still has August, and Vue didn't appear to be on that issue's CD.

catlin_mc ( ) posted Mon, 16 August 2004 at 10:48 AM

Yup it is the September issue. 8)
