Subject: Need some help please, can't remember how to load up textures.....

I bought some Dragon Skin Textures yesterday and unzipped them and put them in their own folder in the Texture directory but now I can't remember how to make Poser5 see them. I really haven't used the program since last fall/winter and that was just after taking a class at LVS. I want to change the dragon skin. Anyone help please? Thx

Is there a MAT pose associated with them? If so, all you need is to place those somewhere in the Pose folder. But in that case you must be sure the textures are where the MAT poses expects them to, or Poser will most likely lock up. If there's no MAT Pose, simple select each material one at a time in the Material room and add a 2D Texture map node to it, where you put the texture in. Once you've plugged in one of them you can click at the arrow at the right of the Material Room and select "Apply to all".

Well, let's see if this can help... but first, a commercial texture pack without an auto-installer or at least a 'path'-structured zipped pack seems a bit odd... Did you extract the files with the 'use folder names' option starting in your Poser5 main directory? That should do it for the positioning. Also, look if there are some readme files or text files in the zip... some non-standard packs put there their instructions to use the files (and specify which models they are made for). Then, if they are mat-pose files, you should find em in your 'Poses' library tabs. If those are only plain textures, once loaded your model in the studio, switch to the 'material' room. From there you can select the subsets (groups) of your model and change every setting you want. This is only a 'refresh' - if you need more detailed instructions i suggest you browse your manuals first, and then look at one of the many tutorials around here. Hope that helped. Happy rendering

First of all thanks for responding so quickly. This was made for Poser 4 and I manually installed the files in the proper directory......I'm not new to this. They are only .jpg files. Here's the instructions I got with it. [Installation instructions, Poser Unzip the file named "Pixilator's Majestic Dragon Skins"to a folder you will remember. load Curio's Majestic Dragon model. Next,under the "Render" menu click "Materials,." Next to where is says "Texture Map" click "Load",find the folder where you first stored the textures to,choose one and click "open" Make sure the box that says "Texture change apply to entire figure" is unchecked.] I cannot find "Texture Map" in P5 to load them. I've tried it through the "render" option and just by going to the material room. I've tried clicking on the + button to add them but it only adds the current texture. I've tried doing searches on this topic but can't find any help but then again maybe I'm putting in the wrong keywords. Maybe I will have to go to the user's manual (shudders) that I got with P5.

He he, ok... here's the solution (if i've understood your problem correctly) Select your model, go to the material room (even with the mat tab or the materials under render options) In the mat window click on the plug referred to 'diffuse_color', select 'new node'>'2d textures'>'image_map' this creates the new node for the image map, letting the former unchanged. Now click on the 'none' referred to 'Image-source', browse your dirs and click on ok a couple of times. That should do it.
