Subject: Do you use magnets to create elf/pointed ears?

Sephyn74 ( ) posted Thu, 12 August 2004 at 7:26 PM ยท edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 10:18 AM

or is it something that has to be injected or added on?

heyDerick ( ) posted Thu, 12 August 2004 at 7:30 PM

Most characters actually have the morph included in them. What character are you using?

Sephyn74 ( ) posted Thu, 12 August 2004 at 7:33 PM

no character right now. Its just a question. I've seen tons of renders of elven, daemon, etc, characters with pointed ears and would like to know how to do it. The same goes for fangs in a mouth instead of flattened teeth (say, vampire fangs, for example, that haven't been put in via a 3rd party prog like photoshop).

heyDerick ( ) posted Thu, 12 August 2004 at 7:35 PM

well almost all have the ear morphs I know for sure v3 has the teeth morphs but you have to have her head morph pack also.

Sephyn74 ( ) posted Thu, 12 August 2004 at 7:37 PM

i see. But is there a way to do it without using morphs? can magnets be used? i dont really understand how to inject morphs anyway.

heyDerick ( ) posted Thu, 12 August 2004 at 7:40 PM

Im not sure about magnets (dont use them myself) but I am sure someone has them. But how you inject morphs is you buy the head morph pack and then install it, then theres a folder I think its called !V3 Head INJ then choose witch ever morph you would like, and then it applies that morph to the figure, After that you can set the dials to however extreme you want it.

(digs in pocket, pulls out lint). thanks :)

FlyByNight ( ) posted Thu, 12 August 2004 at 8:21 PM

I'm still using Victoria 2 and when I select her head there are dials for elf ears, no special morphs needed. I haven't checked for the teeth.

Yes. You can do ears with magnets pretty easily on most existing figures. Fall off zone adjustment was important for the way I did it. Poser magnets are really quite powerful once you get the hang of them. Check out Geeps magnet tutorials. He has them broken down into 4 tuts if I remember right.

Sephyn74 ( ) posted Thu, 12 August 2004 at 9:56 PM

Thank you. Do magnets work on teeth too? :)

geep ( ) posted Thu, 12 August 2004 at 10:00 PM

Only if they are made out of metal. ;=]

I'm sure you can. I've never fooled with anything inside the mouth. You'd have to scale your view and magnet objects appropriately. Your working area would be considerably 'busier', I think. The first thing I'd do if working on teeth would be to use existing lip morphs to move them out of the way, or I suppose you could work with groups instead if that suits you. Again, see Geeps tuts ;)

Hey, Geep. I'm gonna send you a little donation tomorrow. I promise. It's embarrassing how much I refer people to your work and I don't know that I've ever paid a dime for the time you've put in that has helped me so much.

Sephyn74 ( ) posted Thu, 12 August 2004 at 11:05 PM

Thanks Geep. Appreciate it. I am currently going through your magnets tutorial. But I am stuck on how to set transparency in poser room to 20% LOL - can't find it in the ref manual either

hmm ok. i was just trying to make everything transparent so i could see better like your nose job tutor for dr jeep. (i'll give a quote to where i'm referring to in tutor): [[["Here, I have use the Hierachry Editor to "hide" everything in the studio except Geep's Head, neck & hair. I have also set the Transparency (Max) to about 20% so I can see things better."]]] That's what i was referring to with transparency... :)

Sephyn74 ( ) posted Thu, 12 August 2004 at 11:36 PM

oops i meant dr. geep - lol. sorry. (dr. jeep is a sisters song! Ha)

geep ( ) posted Thu, 12 August 2004 at 11:49 PM

Crickey, this is going back a *long* time. The pictures pretty much say it all.

Nowadays the figures available to us are so much better, with built in morphs for most things. I remember this being fun though, if somewhat tedious.
