Ok, I got my first digital camera a few days ago and went picture crazy, over 200 in just a few days. I'm trying to turn some of the pics into seamless textures. One in particular i'm working on is a paneling texture. It keeps turning out to bright on one side. Is there a way I can fix it? Or should I try reshooting the pic. Attached is the original photo scaled down (the original is 2016x1512 and would take a while for even me to load in the forum on DSL). Any help will be appreciated.

Here is what the mat is turning out as in Bryce thus far. The sun is directly on it with a radial light in front-middle and slightly higher.

hmm you made it seamless by offsetting it in photoshop right? "Filter - other - Offset" then offset it in both directions by 1/2 of its total width/height. Using this you will be able to get a perfectly seamless texture.

It looks like you need to turn down the specular and ambient levels a bit. Also it probably helps to just have the picture control the colors, but not the levels (at least for ambience.)

Ok, I adjusted the pic. The lightness/darkness problem is fixed, I think. I also tried to make it more clearer for Zhann.

Ok, one more in Bryce. One more question, should I put the finished mat as a freebie on my site or not?

After posting the closeup pic I noticed the line in the middle of one of the boards where the edge of the texture is. i fixed the problem now.

OK, Last one on this subject before I move on. Cleared it up a bit more and got ride of that annoying line once and for all. This is a close-up image in Bryce, not just the texture.
