Now, Doc's design is fine, but it's obvious that he isn't used to working in brick. Hence the lintels over the doors (which are made from his Magic Box, and slightly thicker than the wall. Just remember to select all the surfaces for the material.).

Now where do I get a roof for this place? I don't think I have enough lumber.

file_124561.gif

Not enough lumber ??? Let me see, ... I think I have some left over from our "deck" project. NaySayGuy did the ordering. I think he thought I was talking about bored feet ... oh well, he meant well, I think. Will this be enough lumber? ;=] cheers, dr geep ;=] P.S. We're going to make the roof from the "Magic Pyramid" ... but don't tell anyone. ;=]

Thanks...

I think...

Incidentally, here's a brick texture. My pic of the garage used a Poser 5 material, but the colours are way too bright.

Real bricks are different.

And this is me (in my new T-shirt), showing you the improvement a texturemap can make. Yes, it's the one above.

What you have to do is tile the texturemap, and adjust the U and V scales to suit. Using the UV map I'v made for the garage, the V-scale is about 0.1420 and the U-scale is 0.07150

I shall have to measure a brick, make a block, and use it a gauge.

Tweak the V-offset to get a mortar-line matching the top edge of the doors. On a real brick building, the wall goes into the ground, but builders don't like untidy tops to doors.

And now back to the Doc...

Well, I made a start on the roof, but now it's raining...

Dang !!! ....... Nice job on the trusses.

Me thinks the wrong person is teachin' this class.

Nice job, Tig!

Way back, when we were working in our various ways on the garage, you described how to set up the materials. It looks as though the outer wall surface of the garage should be split into three sections. Front and one side for the outside wall, and the other two as seperate surfaces, since they face onto different rooms.

geep ( ) posted Fri, 27 August 2004 at 10:36 PM
