With a hand-held launcher, you should leave the projectile UNparented. Parenting the ammo to the barrel will give honest composite motion for a moving launcher, such as a gun on a tank that is moving steadily forward. In that case, the parenting will cause the tank's horizontal speed to be added to the ammo's trajectory. But for a hand-held, this addition is bad. If the soldier puts down the launcher just after firing, the path of the ammo will suddenly turn downward! Leaving the ammo unparented will also make it easier to leave it on the ground afterward.

If you are using P5/PP you could get someone to write you a script, projectile motion is one of the easier things to program, I'd do it for you, but you'd have to wait an extra day or two to let me learn, Python.
