Faces that don't look realistic? Posette looks pretty realistic to me.

MAC's can see invisable folder too, Macs can find them and have been finding them for the past 10 years snice i used them,, you do see the !DAZ files, on a G3, G4, and even the G5. there is even a option to locate invisbable files in case you didn't know, i have to agree with Carol. Mac users can find these files from any program. On a PC you can't see it. But on a MAC you can. Don't put on the shades man and think your cool when the sun isn't even shining. V1, V2, V3, M1. M2. M3. SP, David, ect. when these products came out, everyone RUSH to da to buy them and prasie them. Now People are singing a diffrenet tune. Fixing a hole where the rain gets in, keeps my POSER from wondering where will Daz go?? if your happy with WHAT you have keep it, if you like what other vendors are selling here or anywere else that is P5 compatiable and you like it, and its a good price buy it. where does it say it has to be DAZ? they started that !DAZ thing about 2 years ago,, and some of us brokers were told NOT to put the (!) there, to me a model is a model, as long as it does its job. wheather it comes from here or somewhere else and it works. i'm happy. not everything HAS to be Daz.so let the choice be yours. go render something beautiful, and use the models of your choice.

"The fact that DAZ makes a !DAZ folder and puts it in the Library before Character, Poses, Faces, Hair, etc, means that DAZ has indeed taken over the library. You can not move that folder if you want to use the Gen 3 figures. I want hair under hair and poses under poses and characters under characters... I don't want a !DAZ folder at the top level of the Runtime"

Actually Carolly you can move it as long as you are willing to edit files. I did so and it works for me. but i had to hard code things. And yes if you move it and edit the files you can still use the Gen 3 figures. "

as for daz messing with the directory structure.. ummm have you ever taken a look at the freebies from long ago or hell some of the store bought items?

I installed about 40 freebies and long ago bought items .. these things put folders everywhere.. files everywhere.. i had folders named tex under characters which held textures. I had folders named mine on my C:/ for gods sake.

You can work with the directory structure if you want. You don't have to leave it as is. Frankly I don't care about the !Daz folder. After all I can't do anything with that level anyway might as well have those files somewhere. I choose to put them elsewhere on my p5 install though because it was my taste

if you are willing to sit down and edit files you can move things but it takes a while and for the question. Any figure will do what you want as long as you are willing to work with it. Posette is still great so is v1,2,3 but you have to be willing to play around. If you aren't then you aren't going to be happy with any model you invest in

Randym77 -- yeah, I can post a few -- although I don't think I'll be doing celebrities, I'm afraid. I'll do three late tonight or tomorrow morning and put them up. Most of my work involves creating training videos that show how interactions between a customer and a clerk are supposed to be done. In order to keep things interesting for the viewer (typically a bored kid or jaded adult) I try to create people that are realistic looking and somewhat humorous acting. In a default state alone, Judy fulfills that role admirably -- she isn't stunning, isn't terribly homely, and has enough flexibility that I can get pretty much any sort of face I need (and body type, as well, lol).

thou and I, my friend, can, in the most flunkey world, make, each of us, one non-flunkey, one hero, if we like: that will be two heroes to begin with. (Carlyle)

I really don't find any problems with all the !DAZ Runtime folders. Heck, I never see them. I've renamed and moved the "!" folders in the Pose library. Many characters created with "version 3" characters will refer directly to the "!DAZ" runtime folders, rather than the DAZ Pose folders. You can fix those that refer to the Pose library using CorrectReference Pro. Now, as for the "realism look" of Posette to Vicki 3. Just look at the attached closeups.

Posette, in that render, looks like a mannequin, with painted-on eyebrows. And Posette can't handle most routine poses without broken joints.

xantor ( ) posted Fri, 27 August 2004 at 11:34 AM

That isn`t a very fair comparison, it looks like posette has the basic map you get with poser and victoria 3 has a high resolution map.

GladysClump ( ) posted Fri, 27 August 2004 at 11:39 AM

From that picture, I wouldn't say either of them look terribly good or realistic. Vicky actually looks a little scary and Posette comes off looking pretty cute, even for a mannequin.

Good Gods... that Vicki picture looks like my boyfriend's mother! Yeeeeeesh!

When the original Adam came out, the amount of support was pretty minimal. But now ... there is a growing body of support for the Sixus1 characters and a lot in the pipeline. What is really interesting is the cloned clothing for the toon girl. Right now you can get just about anything cloned (though you have to own it). http://www.sixus1.com is a pretty vibrant community. I hope it lasts.

As I said earlier, For unique faces, Roxanne is the way to go.

I have to confess ... I'm interesting in buying V3 from someone who has truly trashed her. * I have V3, don't like her. Joints are nice, mat poses are nice, face sucks, and I'm not about to go messing around enough to make her look even halfway human. Easier to use Judy and Don, find both of them pretty easy to work with, I just stay away from anything that I'd have to postwork. Meaning joints that are bent very much are hidden so I don't see them. Having every model look like a beauty contest winner is just plain stupid, real people don't look like that. V3 isn't the first thing I've paid for that's been trashed. Greybeard (Formerly Millman) Message edited on: 08/28/2004 23:03*

I don't think DAZ allows you to resell. They don't even allow you to buy their products for other people as gifts. You have to get gift certificates instead.
