I think that thread got moved to the OT forum which no longer exists so the thread was deleted, the comments the person made that started the thread were also deleted and I think the person that made them was banned

Wow, now I have some really RonKnights-a-esque recollections.

You know what is right for you. I know what is right for me.

"But I have a major, major beef with the click and render posse who equate every inane piece of shite they throw out with a Major Work of Art because all Art is Equal."

Yep, I'm with you on that point. That's a big problem on this site and a couple others I can think of. The point and click people have as much in common with art and artists as the paint by number crowd. That is not to say they shouldn't have a place in the galleries here, it's just that they do tend to equate their work with fine art and take themselves way to seriously.

It's one thing to strive to create art and become an artist, it's another thing to buy a copy of Poser and clicky, click, click, render...poof "I'm an artist look at my masterpiece".

I am much opposed to this idea that anything and everything someone creates is art and anyone that does create something is an artist. I am not an elitist by any means, but I do think people need to understand the difference between being "artistic and creative" and being an artist. And that lack of understanding probably explains a good portion of the angst people feel when someone says something other than "Oooooooooo excellent" in comments.

And before this thread gets locked, I do want to add I don't think anything spinner said should have offended anyone nor should it have been taken as a condemnation of any one or anything. Although there are problems with "point and click" in other genre's...the naked vickie genre is one of the most used, and is where one is more likely to find examples of it, so it was fitting for her to focus on it.

Oh, and LadySilverMage, it would be great if you would submit your "tips" as a tutorial, there are many here that would love to have that kind of information available and would use it.

BTW Argon - were you asking for what was wrong in your images? I thought you were asking in regards to someone else's images. I actually leave 'rosity to get feedback about what is wrong with renders. People just don't feel like giving feedback beyond "hey, great!" and that sort of thing. Which I understand, but it isn't what I need to get better. and in post #36 spinner stated exactly why she dislikes NVITWS images - and frankly she isn't that far off. I just took a look at your gallery and I think that perhaps the real issue for you is that spinner hit a button? I'd say much of what I'm doing isn't much better, though I'm making progress. So as an example. Do you think that tutorials/tips would help in regards to any of the following: Adding shadows to your images; Not placing your characters with body parts in the floor or other "props"; Facial expressions; non-stiff poses? I actually feel that 'Rosity needs a FAQ/tutorial on those points for "for the first time before you post a render, consider ..." Though tlc is about to do a tutorial on using shadows to plant and how to do them with layers and alpha channels. http://www.sixus1.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?t=1596&start=30 I'm looking forward to that.

Here, here.

I'm not sure if any of you have been to Sacramento, but we have a major movement of art "wanna be's". They hang around the coffee shops and, dressed like beatniks, they have huge sidewalk-chalk-drawing gatherings that are much to the befuddlement of anyone who ever even SEEN.

I've been shown some of their other various works, and if you disclued trash sculptures and strange looking hangables made of "found objects" and paper mache globuals, most of the stuff looks like it was produced by a second grade class.

They are fanatic about it.

Sacramento. Home of the MOST bad artists.

It's sad... really sad... LoL
