Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 01 9:10 pm)
Make a copy of the dolphins cr2 file (in libraries:characters animals) and then edit the two lines with figureResFile to point to your newer uvmapped dolphin, then try loading this into poser. If you just want to widen a body part you can use the scaling parameter dials, you don`t need a morph. To add a morph you have to make one first. Dr geep has a tutorial here about making morph targets.
Very rarely, the geometry resource file gets corrupted .
This manifests with weird displays you described .
After fixing the figResFile declararations in the cr2, delete the newName.rsr file in the geometries subdirectory and reload the character .
This will build a new .rsr file and the display should come out right .
The second question is very basic - Parameter dials are of many types ...
Transform dials are present by default . These are scale, rotate and translate dials which don't use morfs .
Morf dials are added - eg the blinking morfs .
They can be created from external morf targets (Object>Load Morf Target) or spawned from the current pose (Object>Spawn Morf Target) in Poser .

"figureResFile" at first couple of lines ...
figureResFile :Runtime:Geometries:Animal:dolphHi.obj
Do a search and replace .
Transfroms like scale have centers . The pec fin likely doesn't have its center properly aligned .
Do the scale . Then go to Window>Joint Editor . Adjust the green cross hair which represents the fin center, till you're happy with it .

Here is the link to dr geeps morph tutorial. It sounds to me like one of your problems "you can only see the inside of the model" is reversed normals. Try importing the obj with the "Flip normals" box (only) ticked in the import options. Then re-export the obj again. "Like I wanted to make the dolphins pectoral fins longer, and it screwed up the side of the body as well." You should be able to do this with magnets, then spawn a morph target. There are some tutorials on "Morphing With Magnets" at Poser World. http://www.morphworld30.com/tutor.html

One first quiestion, I asked this in the UV forum, but got.. no help at all: I was following the tutorial at http://arcana.daz3d.com/index.php?id=70 On how to make a new map for a poser model. I went to edit the map for the Poser Dolphin, cause I needed to split the body parts and display them from other angles for a project I want to do. I did all that. I followed the tutorial all the way. When I finished and saved, I saved the object under a new file name in it's own dir. But I can't get it to load or display in Poser. If I try and import it, it becomes this messed up looking thing and you can only see the inside of the model and it loses all joints. How can I get it so I can use it right? Other Question: How do you add morph targets to a poser model? I have seen tutorials, but they only show how to add a section, not how to make it move a sellect part of the body. Like to widen a body part, or make something longer or shorter, make something blink or any of that. No tutorial I've found even gives a hint on how to tell it just what part you want it to move.
